I was curious how much of that sort of work was actually done in the shop. Its nice to see that they are building them from the ground up.
They will probably be in the running for my next "real" guitar
That's what came in V1 of my UK67. I'll be honest, I wound up pulling it, and I don't even remember what I replaced it with. Maybe an old "Perfect Connection" tube I had out of a Metaltronix M1000 I had many years ago.
This is so true, and frankly why I don't worry about the opinions of people on forums. Generally their mouths are writing cheques that their asses can't cash.
Nuno and DSLs is another good example.
Pretty much all the good tones of history were done with gear that was relatively pedestrian at the time. It really wasn't until the late 80s that gear started to become unobtainium, and its kind of funny to think that with most bands, if you were able to...
Just confirming you have run the presence and eq all higher than they are in the photos ( I do see the note about the presence on " 9 and 10")
I only say this because sometimes people want the knobs to be set a certain way, including SRV. I can't remember what amp it was but he wanted it to...
I've really gotten away from boosts, as for some reason they all just seem to impart a thing I don't like. At least when playing alone. When in a mix, it doesn't seem to matter as much. Nowadays I wind up going back to the ol' GE-7, as the TS stuff sounds too much like a TS, and the SD stuff...
I had a GH50L and its on a short list near the top of my favourite amps I've ever owned. Punches way over its weight stock, let alone with some choice mods.
BOC has some great stuff. It's like spooky comedy rock. I can definitely see how people would get a lacklustre opinion of them based on radio songs (Don't Fear...) just because that song has had the shit played out of it and it effectively became a joke. I think they have a hardtime with a sonic...
99/100 times I would rather roll a crunch down to a clean on my guitar volume knob. The 1 time out of 100 I want uber Queensryche clean, and I don't want that basically ever. It is meaningless in the context of how I've participated in every band I've been a part of.
I really like Doug's playing, but it feels like he almost has become a caricature of himself. I mean that with all the respect in the world. He seems like a nice guy, as long as you don't be a Chippy. I like his work with others, Hurricane, Lion, Bad Moon Rising, Dio, etc. His solo on the House...
