It's excellent. I've gone from the MC6 to the MC6 Pro for the display and onboard relay, but otherwise they're very similar. There's not much it can't do.
Hah!
For most gigs (bars, etc.) I don't put guitar through the PA. Just a shield/diffuser in front of the cabinet (so I can crank it, hear it, and it doesn't kill anyone). For anything larger I use a Blubox (IR loader/DI) rather than a mic. Makes it easy and reliable.
The RJM is great and low noise. I used one in my loop for years.
That said, for going into the amp you're probably better off with an A/B box- less noise that way.
You'd have to ask Glen Morris- I know there have been a number of changes but couldn't say what they are.
I believe the tweaks he did for Joe Dzialak are what he's currently using for the S2 version-
When I picked up the amp, I spent a day in his shop going over everything with him. He...
If you're looking at Morris, the Perplex'd would be closer to the Friedman, I'd think.
I haven't played the XSIII, but I picked up a new Perplex'd S2 a few months ago. Absolutely rips. (Plus Glen is a fantastic guy.)
You used to be able to get many of the models as hardtails- used you can find Axis Sports, Alberts Lees, Silhouettes, etc. with a fixed bridge. New you're looking at the Morse or Valentine models, maybe one or two others. (Or get one with a trem and crank up the tension on the springs so the...
I don't think they generally do visits. I'd try emailing or calling- maybe you can arrange something. Y'never know.
It's a pretty cool place- I've been through it.
Music Man had a system like that a number of years ago- the "Game Changer". The switching was digital but the audio path was analog.
This looks pretty interesting. I'm guilty of continually rewiring my guitars with different switching configs, so I'm interested in trying it out.
Yeah it's great if you want to drop down a step or so. Sounds weird when you can also hear your guitar acoustically, but it's pretty handy at gigs ... avoids having to switch guitars for a song or two in a set.
The Helix/HX devices have a "virtual capo" that also does a great job. I've since...
For me, it's less of a tone problem and more of an issue of hearing enough of myself on a small stage. If I'm too loud, I kill everyone in front of me. If I'm the right volume out front, I can't really hear myself. I can put some guitars through the monitor, but that's not great either. With the...
I've used the "Mitchell Donuts" approach (Google it or read the big thread on TGP)- sort of a more useful beam blocker implementation (since beam blockers don't actually do what you want them to). Cuts down on the beam issue somewhat, but overall doesn't solve the dispersion problem.
I've had...
The capacitance is only going to matter if the output impedance of your device is high. So from (unbuffered) guitar to the next thing in the chain. With any active device (so probably anything in your rack), it really shouldn't matter.
Personally I've never heard a difference in speaker cables...
