Yep. Way better to get the signal after the power amp.
The speaker connections on those devices are in parallel, so you can also just run one speaker out from your amp to a cabinet, then run the other speaker out to the Cab M / Blubox.
It isn't an executable file. You have to put it in a directory where you store vst3 files (e.g. "C:\Program Files\Common Files\vst3"), and then load it via your DAW (Cubase, Reaper, etc.). Make sure your DAW looks in that directory for its plugins.
Personally I love the Blubox- I've been using one in my live setup for years. I have a couple of small angled plexiglass diffusers in front of my 2x12 so I can crank my amp w/o being too loud in the venue (and the other guys can hear me on stage), and use the "stack 1970" IR, which sounds close...
If you're going with something that large, another option is a small MIDI controller like the Morningstar MC3:

Would give you a ton of options, as you can assign different functions to press, long press, double tap, etc.
On the Helix, yes. You can assign a switch to jump to a preset number of intervals. I used this at one point as a one-button-whammy, but found an expression pedal to be handier.
Again, I'm not sure about the FX8.
On the HX Stomp you can do this with a Whammy + expression pedal. Set the toe to an octave down - instant virtual dive bombs.
Not too knowledgeable with the FX8 but I'd wager you could do the same thing.
I generally prefer 2-channel amps where one channel is set brighter with less gain.
I'll add a compressor to channel 1 for cleans, and a boost (something with mid punch + level boost) to the other channel for leads.
Hey- great vid. So I have one of these, and it's a great little amp.
Personally I don't look at it or use it as a floor amp. I leave it on a cabinet and switch channels from my pedalboard. So just look at it as a tiny, more portable head. It's not kicking my main amp to the curb, but it's much...
Canuck here. Fwiw, USPS is easier & less expensive for smaller items like pedals. There won't be any brokerage fees and there may not be any duties or taxes for the recipient (under a certain threshold ... in my experience they usually don't charge at all).
