The Blue is more of an overdrive, although in it's boosted higher gain mode you might hear some overlap! It's also more versatile, this pedal is more of a 1-trick pony (but a great trick)
Both great pedals, I'm a huge Plexitone fan! And I helped voice the newest small version.
Best thing (of course) is to try both if possible and see what works for you!
I bought some of his lessons. Inspiring stuff. I just like that he has impeccable crazy technique AND can phrase/slow down/leave holes once in awhile! That's rare.
I think the single cut will happen at some point, the impression that I've gotten was just that they are so busy with what's going on with current guitars that there just hasn't been time and/or the production capacity or whatever to devote to a single cut design- yet. I know he really wants to...
There's a lot of truth here.. but I don't think it's as bad as he makes it out to be. The biz is just way different, and smaller than it was. Still possible to earn a living but you just have to go at it differently.

The YouTube thing, I didn't start until 2007... It's been beneficial for sure, but I was already playing with Chris Cornell then, had done a bunch of other tours for like 15 years and had had like 3 bands with record deals, etc. I wouldn't want to be "just a guy on YouTube", the YouTube thing...
Go out and see bands, make friends, network, immerse yourself. Play anywhere and everywhere, until you figure out what you want and where you belong.
