I am much more picky about guitars than amps/cabs. They affect the playing immediatelly. On the last gig I switched between EBMM JP15 and R9. I enjoyed the effortless playing of JP15 much more but from the clips from gig the R9 sounded a lot of better.
The amps are different story...I can get...
It is not exactly Even Taper, it is slightly more C shaped neck. I had 2012, 2016 and recently played 2024 and they had almost identical shapes. My R9 has perfect shape but it has more meat than Customs. R8´s has noticably bigger necks.
Weight-wise I swapped my main gigging guitar LP Heritage...
SSH+ in mahagony Modern is scalpel-precise. Some can call it generic or bland but it is Your playing, not the pickup ? It is exact opossite of for example Duncan distortion which plays almost the same in every guitar. Also it record extremely well, no weird spikes or overhelming frequencies...
Libtards are the supporters of the orange ape, which want to make USSA the same again or the other ones ? :) It is not clear on the other side of the pond...
For rhythm guitar maybe ? ?
Pete Thorn is great musician and also a composer but it is hard to swallow for some of the local gurus. He doesnt have Wazard or Lorry so what he know about tone, right ? ?
Aldrich is slightly beefier, SSH+ is little bit cleaner. SSH+ is fantastic pickup for recording, no weird EQ spikes like other pickups, slight more mids, controlled bass.
Another option is DSH Plus, double row which is 'creamier' version os SSH+. Works great for thinner sounding guitars with...
VP4 arrived.
It took a while to used to new UI but no problem. It is limited but still enought for most ussual players. You have only 4 blocks but for each slot You have 4 channels so there is some variety. You can still have presets which are almost as fast switching as scenes.
The effect...
I changed 6L6 for EL34 in my recto and WOW, not that much diffence at all :) There are much more important things in the whole rig than powertubes.
Ola's demo sounds absolutely fine because it is the sound of a recto. Still the best recto is Multiwatt :)
Wow. The guy in the cap sound typical recto sound I heard on stages till 00's... and hated it :) Pure over-bassy mess which is drown in the band mix...
Depends on the amp but I can imagine this combo as harsh city. Both have more of the scooped character with boosted highs and lows and works better mixed with more mid oriented speaker.
Chambered guitar can sounds good, but they don't work for heavier music as good as traditional full body or 9-hole relief. And they are prone to feedback much more.
Did you checked 'standard' Custom ? The are heavier than reissues but 498T pickups and thin neck profile make them perfect for...
I have VP4 ordered, mainly because form factor for gigging. I have FM9T and I realise it is really expensive delay pedal for me :) I doesn't expect the flexibility or footswitch option of FM9 but those delay/reverb are just fantastic. And noise gates ... best in the business.
I also had GX-100...
I watched Leon Todd's review of VHT Ultralead yesterday and what caught my ear was mention about stiffness of VHT which reminds him DSLs and I have to agree. The same with JVMs and Jubilees. Not fun amps to play at all. For example remped JVM sound superb on Ola Englund album but in person there...
Thanks for straighforward explantation.
It is always about compromises and if it makes selling/buying safer than why not.
But it is funny to read those 'stuck in 80s' folks' complaints even when they have no idea how those tech works ?
One of the cabs You can try it is Engl. Frontloaded with removable back. We have one in the rehearsal room so I did it. The same cab, the same spakers. The differences are not subtle at all, completely different bass and highs projection. FL has tighter lows and sharper, harsher highs and...
