it did, and i struggled with it. always sounded like there was a blanket over it
honestly with the new Helix update i'm getting better sounds out of the stock cabs than i am after market irs.
i agree with the power amp and guitar cab statement. all about moving air!
I had a powercab 212+ and hated it. The headrush I tried in store sounded much better.
Just looking for best option to not have to tweak too much when playing live. Not sure monitors are the best for that.
Anyone use a plain old PA speaker for tweaking modeler patches? Had considered monitors, but feel like they won’t give me an idea at volume. What speakers are you using?
That’s really interesting. I find myself doing that too, but then don’t always remember what I play. I also have a hard time “unboxing” myself. I swear learning scale boxes is more curse than help.
I’ve got a Line6 Helix that I plan to use for a band. I need something in the way of a powered speaker to dial in my patches because I plan to DI to FOH. It would also be nice if it were portable enough to serve as my “cab” for band practice. I had a Powercab212+ and absolutely hated it; I AB’d...
i've got a Diezel VH4 and a Fryette SigX. i've heard time and again a MV amp doesn't need an attenuator. i have mixed feelings on that. the VH4 is hifi and fizzy at lower volumes. the Ox Box got rid of that but did suck some of the tone. kind of a no-win, that one.
A lot of love for the Fryette on the forums . . . But doesn’t that have a tube in it? I’m looking for a minimal fuss option that doesn’t require maintenance. With that said, the more I think about it, the more I do like the idea of something that can handle variable impedance since I have a...
Opinions on something that just does attenuation and does it well? Tried the Ox Box, pretty nice, but had a hard time getting the volume right between the set levels. Also noticed a bit of tone suck. I’m not really doing a bunch of recording (yet?) nor do I need a lot of the bells and whistles...
I'm a rookie to the speaker game, only having played V30s. For reference, I have a Diezel VH4 w/ matching 412 w/ V30s; just picked up a Marshall 1936 w/ M65 cream backs. Both sound glorious. I've looked at charts on the Celestion website, but is anyone willing to give a quick and dirty verbal...
Being a total noob I’m just not sure if a 212 cab with creambacks is going to be vastly different/better than a rear loaded Diezel 412 with v30s? I’m sure it’s apples to oranges.
what kind of music do you play? i tend to play pretty heavy music, but i don't see why a Marshall can't do that. folks tell me that creambacks aren't great for heavy music, but a lot of players i respect use them and their tone is glorious. i think it's worth a try
