I have found Koa to be slightly brighter than Mahogany and with a little luck also more bottom end than
Mahogany, very full sounding unplugged which comes through the Pickups.
I have not seen the bright, thin Koa .
Koa is very thick sounding but not muddy.
It can also be very thick...
Try the JJ 803S in one or even both because it may mask the Diode clipping and give you clearer gain , wider
sweet spot in gain channel , they have a little less gain than the JJ 83s but more useable gain in SOME circuits,
less fuzz, fizz etc.
My H@K Tubeman uses Diode clipping for the...
The playability is great .
They do have a few different neck profiles now in addition to the fingerboard radiuses.( radii -lol).
The fretwork and fret material ( Jescar ) is hard to equal in their price range, they intonate really well also .
Be careful of Maple necks on a neck thru...
Is it ridiculously versatile live where to an audience member they would think you actually have 3 or 4
different Amps there ?
A little off topic but you can also get it singing or screaming at much lower Volumes than Tube Heads ?
Score them with a knife . Do NOT hold them in place with your hand when scoring them .
Hold in place with pliers a fork, etc.
Do NOT hold them down with your hand.
Make nice little lines, not too deep, criss cross etc.
One of my tricks for serious recording is to sometimes mic the studio Monitors and record it on a parallel track.
You can hear why this sometimes works, lol.
I am also very curious about Kinmans.
I emailed him when I heard he was doing Humbuckers and asked if he could do a PAF with a little more juice that split into one of his noiseless Singles !
I fact I asked about having Humbuckers at different outputs that split into different noiseless...
Al Di Meola - Live - 1978 (1ª Parte): https://youtu.be/mR5744-GiUE
Wow. I just stumbled on to this Youtube Video.LIVE.
I had always thought he was better on Acoustic but was not fully aware of his work.
I love his Tones here perfect for Fusion and I don't remember his Vibrato being this...
You might want to try a JJ 803s in V1- it may give more open wider bandwidth to feed the other stages and
should help the clean tones as well.
It has a huge plate so in Combo Amps can be microphonic but usually
OK in heads.
This tube can sometimes give clearer gain less fuzz in gain...
Only listening on my phone thru full sized headphones but the clarity and note separation sounds good for that much gain.
Also very tall sound , covers a lot of frequencies from top to bottom, big, wide stereo field.
If it could be warmed up a hair more without sacrificing clarity I 'd...
Without even seeing the new one, I am already saying this one looks better . Lol.
Actually Carvin can probably beat this one.
Did you go for Stainless Jumbo Frets or ...?
Make sure to post new one with a Tone Report and curious if the
new Carvin tuners are better than Sperzels they used...
When I start recording again I would love to have something in the league of RME with fewer inputs but beefy clear, warm sound ?
Is the Roland really that good ?
Ron Dodson above vid :Extremely nice Tone, slightly warmer in a good way Brown Sound.
Excellent playing and perfect feedback.
Must have been loud.
Did he smooth out the Gain from earlier versions ?
Never heard the Brick sound this good although Kasha told me Paul Jackson used a Brick on...
I wonder if it would sound better for high gain with an EQ just before the CAB.
You use a roll off about minus 12db or more and start at 10k and keep lowering the center frequency , somewhere between 10K and as low as 7K , there is a point where you don't affect the core Tone but...
Great to hear about Mahogany being Darker, Fatter on the Suhrs.
Was not aware these were under $2000.
I wonder if his Set Necks go even further...
Are these Moderns available as 22 Fret H-S-H , H-S-S etc.?
I was going to suggest matching snakeskin Tolex on the bedspread.
Leaves really cool Snakeskin Impressions on your Grlfriends back etc. which fade away after 20 minutes.....
Congrats on the Amp.
A GREAT Cover. Van Halen, the Guy and the Band do such GREAT Covers.
He is such an amazing Rhythm Player, creative Guitarist and I was not a big fan until I heard him on "Beat It".
I mean I knew he was excellent but did not realize that he played so well Live, and foolishly did not...
