Last year, I did a side by side test of my VHX Classic 0 vs my VH4 Ch3 with identical settings, through a Mesa 2x12 w V30s, using an amp switcher so I could make instantaneous switches, and I felt like the VHX Classic 0 nailed the VH4 Ch3 tone. The VHX had a slight bit more body, which I think...
So glad you are demo-ing the Uber Ultra for us!!
I love it when you put an amp through it's paces.
The Uber Ultra is definitely on my list
Keep up the great work, Kyle!!
The attenuator part is just an attenuator.
I use the Mid (-20db) setting during the day/evening, and the Down (-36db) setting at late night/early morning.
Let's me play my 100 watt amp heads at comfortable volumes, but with the tube feel.
I'm sorry, I didn't.
The 6L6s have a certain high-end sizzle.
The KT77s have a certain mid-congestion.
I prefer the mid-congestion. Others prefer the hi-end sizzle.
Only your ears, in the room, can decide which is right for you.
I use my VH4 at home thru a Two Notes Captor X Attenuator/Load box into a Marshall 1960A 4x12 to play at lower volumes with tube feel.
Works perfect! I can even play late at night 1am, 2am, 3am....
Tube Amp Doctor BiasMaster.
I love mine

I put 6L6GCs in my VH4 two weeks ago to capture it into my Quad Cortex.
I tried 28mA per tube at first, but it didn't sound right to me,
so I increased it to 53% at 33mA, and it sounded perfect to me (thru 2x12 K100s, on top of 2x12 V30s).
When I switched back to KT77s, I set the Bias at 32mA...
I love these speaker combinations: K100s x V30s, K100 x T75, and T75 x V30s
I use separate 2x12s to mix them together: IE: K100 2x12 on top of V30 2x12
For example, K100 x V30 = V30s bring the rumble and low end, K100s fill out the EQ spectrum, making my FX lush and 3D.
Misha Mansour, who designed the Invective with Peavey,
admitted in a Premier Guitar Rig Rundown video,
that he created the Invective to essentially be the power amp for his Axe-FX for live performance.
Alan, you should try the POD GO, just for FX, in 4 Cable Method with your EVH head.
The POD GO sounds amazing in 4CM. Better than my Helix ever sounded.
I tried to get something great out of my VH4 and a Helix in 4CM, but it never sounded lush and full.
I sold the Helix, and got a Quad Cortex, run it in 4CM with the VH4, and it sounds amazing and fills the room.
I was able to try the new Engl Founder's Edition (EL34) at the Engl Booth.
Every channel was excellent! The layout of the amp is perfect.
I've owned a Savage 120 Mk2, and have an Invader 2. I was very impressed with this new model.
Here's a pic of the amp while I was waiting to play it.
