Adjustable fixed bias :) https://carlscustomamps.com/cathode-vs-fixed-bias
I believe only the "stealth" version of the heads have a pot to adjust externally. Other variants are internal (assuming they're fixed bias and not cathode biased like those lunchbox variants). Could be wrong, going by...
Before I begin, I am *not* leaving the Synergy ecosystem. I am just downsizing as I collect amps that either meet my needs or am working on setting aside funds for their equivalent preamps because I like the Synergy modules so much. This is basically the result of playing Pokemon too much as a...
Used to have that old Afterburner thing. I remember it being noisy as shit, and I didn't like that it was a knob. Would have just preferred a fixed setting I could easily enable/disable. So something like the PA2 with the EQ would have been better for me.
Have tired HZ1, HZ2, HZ3, and HZ4...
Yep, this is accurate. However, don't forget, there are two different types of PT100s. There's the CAA version and the Suhr version. Even though they were both designed by Suhr, they are tweaked differently. The CAA will be more modern sounding than the Suhr one. Suhr is much more classic...
I have a PolyTune 3 mini, Strobostomp (old blue one), Strobostomp mini, TurboTuner ST300 mini and a handful of others. I like the Petersons the best. Every one of those has its own little quirks that isn't quite perfect, though. Apparently making the perfect tuner pedal is hard :V
Just updated to the very latest firmware version. Did not update the presets in case you wanted the SinMix stuff, Leon Todd, Periphery, Gift of Tone, and a few custom ones I made. Can also provide those digitally for anyone who purchases this. Might have some Austin Buddy things too.
Bruce reached out to PRS directly, yes. He traced the schematic a bit, but it ended up never getting truly fixed. The 100w do indeed have the FX loop noise issues, even with the "fix" they have which is removing C2 and replacing R6 with a 47k 1w resistor.
Edit: Also had an issue with a bulging...
Crazy adventure, but it sounds like it's finally sorted after all that. Really hope you enjoy the amp. I still love mine to this day even if it isn't the perfect "end all be all" amp forums tried to make it out to be nearly...shit...nearly 20 years now...
Up for grabs is my EVH 5150 III 50w. I love this thing, but buying old crusty rack gear is calling my name in 2025, apparently, so I need to make some room. The blue channel is the real magic on this and blows away my older 100w version's blue channel. Awesome high gain sounds, solid cleans, and...
Up for grabs is my Fractal Audio Axe-Fx III Mk I. It has served me extremely well throughout the years, but my PCM81 does the FX I need in a smaller package for studio use. It's in very good condition overall with the most wear being some rack rash on the top and bottom from mounting. Corners...
There are more changes required than what he points out... Also, the schematic he is using for the IIC+ isn't official. It's a fan drawn one by jrb32. They are indeed quite close, though. And as far as why you'd choose the amp over the preamp + poweramp, well... That is the age old question ever...
Cool stuff! For those who might not know, the Prophesy is a digital modelling of the Egnater IE4. Bruce was telling me about how it drove the engineer insane trying to model all the tonestacks in the digital space haha. So all those voicings in there are basically the channels of the IE4. I...
Bought a preamp from him. He double-boxed it and packed it for war. Sent pictures every step of the way, has amazing communication, and just great overall to work with. Highly highly recommend!
