Killer stuff, excited to see what you come up with! Known ya since forever, and it's great seeing you finally being able to get the time to make this a reality. 🍻
Cool unit. Just understand what it's trying to achieve at its price point. Requires some manual reading as it has more than just the 4 effects built into it, too. Gate, Volume/Input/Output level, EQ, and Tuner are always available for every preset making it more versatile than it appears at...
There are a lot of reasons why this could happen ranging from dirty FX loop jacks to tubes/sockets to even bad solder joints that only break connection when it starts to warm up.
My USA Archon loop was pretty garbage even with the FX loop fix applied (removing C2 and swapping R6 for a 47k 1W), so I'm not surprised the MT15 also has an issue.
The analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog (AD/DA) converters in a lot of these units that don't have an analog dry-thru color the sound of the amp. Some can even cause some slight impact in feel as there's now a bit of a delay compared to the raw tube amp due to the AD/DA conversion, albeit...
Not really. H9000 exists if you got deep pockets. Lexicon PCM96 is purchasable...although I'd never buy one. Behringer FX2000, although I have no clue how good it is. Other than stuff like that, it's most likely gonna have modeling or other additional features. Classic stuff still works and is...
If you aren't prepared for some MIDI programming to make things seamless with this old rack gear (MPX1, G2, PCM/70/80/81, Eclipse, SPX90 and so on), then don't even consider them. You'll have drop outs when you play if you try to switch patches during jamming. There are ways around it by living...
Install the Aldrich in the Modern Lite and see if it's still vastly different. They should be more similar than they are different. Aldrich is basically an overwound SSH+. Been ages since I last tested them, but I recall the SSH+ being a bit brighter with the Aldrich having a bit more of a mid push.
Have done it, sounds cool. Usually just grab whatever I can get cheapest from a reliable vendor who tests the tubes before shipping. EH, JJ, Psvane, etc.
Kohle with the audio test:
Roadster (and Road King) are darker, for sure, but it is vastly more versatile. Channels 1 and 2 are just awesome. Channel 4 sounds killer, too. Little more vocal midrange and not as cold sounding as a normal recto. Kohle did a good vid comparing how they sound with 1:1 settings:
At around...
Most tight switches I see are done by reducing the coupling cap around the first stage. Marshall is using a resistor to ground for their tight switch? Any gut shots on the 800?
Fryette is designing the Sound City module that I believe will be released this year. Was leaked by themselves by accident when showing off their new location on a whiteboard.
It's good, like mine a lot. I think the Eclipse is a better overall processor with higher quality effects and a few algos that don't exist on the H90, but the H90 has a lot more "creature comforts" that make it better to integrate into a guitar rig. Nice editor, bluetooth, spillover, instant...
I would wait for the Syn-20IR in your case, and grab that. All tube, portable, has a built-in IR loader with headphone out, dedicated clean channel, power amp simulation stuff. I think it's exactly what you're looking for.
