Hipshot is great. That said, for TOM-style bridges, I prefer TonePros. From what I remember, TonePros are basically Gotoh bridges and tailpieces with a locking screw added to them to prevent them from falling off. Suhr also used the TonePros stuff on the Auras he made, so it's pretty quality stuff.
Thanks for that pic, Rex! I don't remember my personal EMG 60 I used to own looking quite that "blue/gray" color. Always looked silver to me. I remember mine looking more like this which looks like an 81 to me:

But this one definitely looks more like the...
Colors refer to the magnet itself, not necessarily the model.
Silver = Ceramic
Gold = Alnico
Copper = Dual mode
So an EMG 60 will have a silver logo, and an EMG 60A will have a gold logo. EMG81 is ceramic, so it's silver. EMG85 is alnico, so it's gold.
I don't get the issue with board mounted sockets. Not sure how it's that much different from other famous preamps?
VHT GP3 (Fryette is famous for board mounting tube sockets in all his designs)

While Bruce doesn't own the Egnater name anymore, he still provides schematics and helps end-users out for simple fixes. Email Bruce directly to see what he has to say: begnater@aol.com
I'd also try cleaning the FX loop jacks. Spray Deoxit D5 on a guitar jack, and insert it a few times into the...
Thought you were joking around, but that's really what the video is. He mostly talks about color combos and how he came up with them... Couple bits about him reducing the kit, but he never really talks about the tone or construction too much. 12 minutes about how he came up with colors and sparkles.
For those who want this to be 100% analog, BAD said this:
"Up to the SEND it's like the old X88R, with the tube buffered out. Main Outputs are Fully Analog, only XLRs go trough AD/DA for the poweramp sim and IR"
That's literally the whole point and why someone would choose this.
I could do a lot of what you described with my DAW and interface, have more capabilities, and probably come out cheaper than an AxeFx. It's just an option; not everything needs to be some black and white choice.
I dig it. Prices seem on par for what Soldano stuff usually costs. Lots of features packed in that X88-IR that other rackmount devices don't have. Power amp sim, high and low pass filters, bright switch which the module doesn't have, new variation on the clean which the module doesn't have...
When in doubt, look at the schematic. Look for the 10k cathode resistor and compare to your amp:

Throw a bunch on a rotary and experiment. As you mod the amp, you'll probably want to keep tweaking stuff until you find values that work well for your own personal mod. My current setup for my own mod I have going on is an on/off/on with a 1000pF / off / 4700pF setup. If you don't want to drill...
