    Rock Standard Review

That would be a question for @WizardSouth-JP as I know he has owned the older RS when Rick started making them. I wanna say, from playing around with one on a VC, it varies the bright cap + gain and I think it is similar on the older RS and w800....both of which did away with the 3 way switch.

100%. The RS has upper mid kerrang more like the w800. The cool thing though, is you can use the "sweep" control to go from Marshall mids to more lower mid focus, kinda like a Bogner.

Quite different. The VC is a super well built, Wizard version of a plexi. The RS is definitely in the modded Plexi category: high plate voltage like a plexi, extra gain stage + boost/bright, effects loop and many ways to sculpt the tone via the MTL controls.

    Rock Standard Review

Hmm....good question. I am actually bringing my MCII out of storage into my amp rotation again, so I will be able to compare them. I will let you know! Just off the top of my head: the leaner and cleaner gain you can get on a newer MCII rythm channel can definitely cop the w800 well, but the...

    Turning off VHX Power Tubes

Good question!! Tonewise, you can dial the VHX pretty close to the mk3. Two things I noticed though: 1) At volume, any Herbert has much more headroom than the VHX. This is most noticeable if you do alot of downtuned stuff: the Herbert (any Mark) will just stay together better in the low end. I...

    Turning off VHX Power Tubes

Beat me to it, but you are 100% right! When I bought my Herbert mk3, I initially wanted the Diezel FL 4x12 to pair with it. I ended up the V30 2x12 as a stop-gap....but was super worried about using it with the Herbert's 180+ watts! Anyway, Peter Stapfer told me himself the 2x12 could handle...

What are your favorite Bogner amps?

Uber Rev Blue is underrated. I liked it more than the old Rev Green I had and Uber Ultra I had recently. Wish I still had it.

NAD. The JVM sucks? Clip added LOL..

My basement. Old house, rural property. Good jam room. :)

NAD. The JVM sucks? Clip added LOL..

Got my JVM 210 for a song and it has stuck around, because it is a great amp! Like @DanTravis62 said, it is absolutely a "modern Marshall" and it can absolutely do that type of sound, but with some tweaking it is pretty versatile!

Top 5 amps of all time that you have owned and why?

    1) Wizard MCII KT150: Really love all my Wizards, but if I had to keep one, this would be probably better it. Clear, percussive, punchy and can get absolutely pummeling with that KT88 power section. The almost acoustic-ish response to picking works well with my playing. 2) Bogner ecstasy 101b...

Tell me about the Duncan Custom

FullShred is essentially a Duncan Custom, with an A5 magnet and two rows of short Allen head screws. Both the Full Shred and Custom 5 have been called scooped before. The Custom (ceramic magnet) is not as scooped as either of those, although like I said, it definitely doesn't have hyped mids.

Tell me about the Duncan Custom

@shar-vell Dan pretty well nailed it! Big, tight, chunky bottom end attack, aggressive mids, but in a broad sense, as they don't have an upper mid hype. I would also agree with him on the "in the right guitar" comment.....they really are A++++ in the right guitar. Nothing like a JB or...

90s Dual Rec Reissue vs. Recent Multiwatt Dual Recs

Multi-watt is a great amp. I picked one up for a good price a few months ago, after not having a Recto for years. Really digging it! Compared to my old Rev G dual I have owned, it is a bit tighter and less scooped....kinda how the 90's Rec is a bit tighter and more mid aggressive than the...

    Favorite 4x12

I have a few I really like. #1 is still likely my old '99 Recto cab overall. Also love my Bogner Helios cab w/ greenbacks Marshall jcm 800 cab w/ old g12t-75's Diezel FL with V30's Honorable mentions would be Uber cabs (had front and rear load....both are awesome! Actually may have to get...

    Seymour Duncan Alt-8 SH-15/TB-15

I didn't find it to be like the JB or Distortion. Kind of its own thing. Less upper mid attack than either the JB or Distortion. Low-end chunk more like a Custom.

Bogner Uber Ultra - A complex, complicated Monster

It is versatile in how you can dial it in, in the context of modern, high gain Uber tones. While it does have a clean/crunch mode, it absolutely will not replace an Ecstasy, if you want those tones + feel. Not saying do, it is just that when I got my Uber Ultra, I was hoping it could cop some...

PRS McCarty 594 Singlecut discontinued ?

Thanks man! It is pretty understated, but that is really what I wanted. If you start to get tops like @LP Freak beautiful Steckel model he posted, then yes, the price gets steeper. I say steeper, because even though a very appointed Knaggs is not cheap, they don't get in to literal car prices...

PRS McCarty 594 Singlecut discontinued ?

I love my PRS's and was considering the 594. I ended up custom ordering a Knaggs Kenai in white, with an ebony board, black binding and BK poly-paf pickups for cheaper than I would have been able to get a plain off the shelf 594 for. Awesome sounding/playing guitar....every bit as good as a core...

    NVCD Vintage G12-65 content

Very very cool! I am a newbie to speakers from that era, but I recently picked up a Canadian 2204 with matching cab that came with the old vented G12t-75 speakers.....wow, do they sound good...and quite different to the newer ones, as has been discussed. Are there similarities between the old...
