I wouldn’t call it polished, just more open. I didn’t care for the JB in my R8 but the Hot Head worked. Enough push to hit the front end of the amp but still has clear highs. Gibby spaced, yes.

Output wise it’s close but the Hot Head is more open , doesn’t have the mids of a JB.

I haven’t tried the Detroiter but had 2nd Degree Black Belts and the Hot Head is hotter than the 2nd° BB. You still have clarity when rolling your guitar volume down.
