Until you take some measurements, you are just guessing.
REW is "room eq wizard" which is a free program available on the web. There are lots of affordable options in small diaphragm condenser mics with a flat response that can be used to take your measurements.
More often than not, a room...
Yeah, the pcb has been replaced, but it looks like a quality job.
I think the switch in the low input hole is a "structure" switch , adding a cap over the 10k cold clipper for a gain boost.
If it has the OG iron, it's worth checking out, but you'd have to play it to see what's up.
Agree that...
I knew Reza had gone off the reservation when he started pounding the table on the Alnico Creams.
I dropped a small fortune to put a quad in a Wizard 4x12 when they first came out.
Those speakers suck donkey balls.
Bland, lifeless, absolutely no character whatsoever....
The perfect speaker for...
7 - 10 H is what you want. 150ma and 500v dc is fine.
Now....a couple of things to consider...
1 - you are replacing a 400ohm resistor for the screen supply with a 100 ohm coil. The stock screen grid resistors on the power tube board are 100ohms, so you will be lowering the effective screen...
For traditional tele tones at a reasonable price point, I like the Dimarzio Twang King neck pu, and a Fender no-caster in the bridge. Texas special bridge is ok too.
Gets the job done and sounds like a tele to me.
I own 2 tele's, both ash body, and the maple neck one has the dimarzio/ no-caster...
I'm ok with the one on the right. I would at least plug it in and check it out.
Looks like they come with a B-Bender too.
Could be kinda cool for something a little different, as long as the price point isn't too crazy.
Would certainly be a change from all my other axes, that's for sure.....
Maybe I'm just old, jaded and bitter, but this is what I'm expecting......
Same old same old Jose mod type shit with a couple wiz-bang circuit tweaks on switches, built on a shitty one sided PCB with paper thin traces, low quality PCB mounted pots, a whole bunch of those cheap, crappy little...
Yeah, Dave is all class......and I have receipts lol......
I have an older be100, and a couple years ago the loop started acting up, so I emailed Dave.
Said I was pretty good with an iron, and rather than ship my amp to him from Toronto, could I just get a new loop board shipped up?
A week...
Sorry, a little late to the party here, but good thread so far......
You are generally stuck with whatever B+ and screen voltage your PT and choke give you,
so what I typically do when looking at voltages in Marshall style builds is start by targeting 345-360 volts at the PI node. The dropping...
Yup! This is a very ambitious project, even for someone who has built an amp or 2.
I built an SE100 clone a few years ago, and it kills now, but it was a bitch to get it right. Some of the issues encountered included:
The circuit will need either a custom turret board, or you can start with...
I was wondering the same thing, but I think he's referring to the .022uf from the tone stack/mv into the pi and the.1uf on the other pi input.
The Friedman Dirty Shirley has a .0022uf on the pi input fwiw....
Seems the majority of this discussion is about the pi OUTPUT couplers and the bias...
Great video!! Thank you
Which version I preferred depended on the riffs.
Given how close they are with the exact same settings, I'm thinking you could get an even closer match with some adjustments to the RI, especially with the GEQ.
The only variable left is the feel, and it...
Meh... I get the attraction of all the different tones and switching options, but the overall tone here just sounds kind of "cardboardy" and lacking in any kind of sparkle or punch, which has been my experience when trying these out.
These and the DSL's kinda fall into the same boat for me. They...
