Apparently the gold voicing is supposed to be more like the earlier models.. according to the vid.. Initially it was said Gold = 6L6 but I guess that is not the case and both voicings are available with choice of power tube.
I ordered one from Sweetwater, they already shipped at least one to someone else. I was told my order could be ready to ship in the next week or so. not sure if I will pull the trigger when they let me know it's ready. I love the XTC 50 which I just got a couple weeks ago. It has some new...
I have played this amp and did not want to like it, or admit I liked it. haha. but I failed miserably. Sounds killer and seems built to withstand a bomb. Reminds of a little of a Bruno or Komet in terms of high quality. Someone will be s happy camper.
Gotta love a happy sound guy! I thought in open/loose mode it was pretty bright. Not in a bad way..but pretty cutting like a Marshall as you mentioned. Such a great amp!
When I heard the chugg factor I was wondering if there was some Larry in there.. It sounded how I imagine a Larry would. That was crushing.. Do you play all the rhythm parts or use a Di track and re-amp. I am brand new o recording so pardon my clueless questions, but I would like to learn...
Excellent point. I was wondering how Blake got it to sound like that. Makes sense.. That amp will rip your face off in the room with the master only on about 1/3 to 1/2 way up., The amp is quite bright, open, snarly and loud in the "expand/ loose " mode.
It is a good one. I should have kept it. It is for sure one of my top faves of recent memory... but I am and probably always will be a revolving door when it comes to amps. I buy 'em then sell 'em and the buy the same amps again. over and over again. Bogner, Marshall, Soldano, Mesa Marks...
The Schizo switch on Telos does seem to have more pronounced voicing than the Jb45. maybe that is just because one has 5 or 6 clicks and the other is graduated, but I think you are right, Telos Schizo more of a chameleon effect and drastically alters the voice on each click. Tough call...
I reread your initial post. If you really crave the Marshall voice, then Helios or Jb45 and of those, I would take the Jb45 for sure. The Jb45 has very powerful voicing switches for both the pre amp ad power amp so you can dial it to be vintage or not. I think these power voicing switches...
Tha Atma is cool for what it is and because of it's size earned a recommendation but sonically I dont think it innerly the amp the others are. Helios 50 is great, but It is squarely in Marshall camp, as is the JB45 but it had more versatility. I have been on a tear lately buying and trying all...
I have had almost every amp Bogner has released. Atma,Helios, JB45, or XTC 3534 fit the bill. ( on the XTC I would get the latest iteration of the 50 watter even though it exceeds your wattage needs.. as does the JB but the MV is outstanding on those amps.
I think the fizz and flub is how these guys are dialing it in. especially Reza... My friend Steve, aka Tonedog, loves his and he has good ears and similar taste, so I have to think these clips are not a great example.
