Typically the carrier (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) handles customs clearance for you. Unless you specifically tell them you will self clear. There really isn't any paperwork for you to do unless the value is so high that a formal clearance is needed. And even then, the carrier does it for you.
I did a Gemini search and the simplest answer is that a kit would be imported under one single HTS code, not individual ones per component: HTS 8518.40.2000 and you would declare the country of origin as the U.K.
If declared customs value is under $2,500, it's a standard clearance and relatively painless and fast. You pay base duty. Reciprocal tariffs are applied according to IEEPA tariff directives. If declared customs value is higher than $2,500, a you need a formal clearance. That's more paperwork...
Maybe I'm not doing a great job at explaining it...
There is no depth control on the Custom shop version. It's a hard-wired capacitor. On older ones, it was a certain value. At some point they changed the value to give the amp a slightly different sound. On the PCB version it's on a switch...
Yes, they all have a switchable 4th gain stage (boost). There are no "mods" per se. They just updated the circuit a few times over the years. So if you find a used one, it depends when it was made.
The Custom is built in the custom shop and is hand-wired. The other one is PCB, presumably made in China, and has a channel switch on the back, along with a pseudo depth control. This control switches a cap in the post-presence filter in the NFB loop, which bypasses more or less NFB leading to...
I agree to a point. I still love all of them.
But people change. They grow. If you look at Tool's discography, you can see how it mimics the progression of most people as they age. Opiate is immature and lacks identity. Undertow is raw and angry and full of energy and angst. Aenima... they...
Sure, I agree with that. If we're just talking about actual gain, then totally. A stock, boosted 800 has enough gain for most metal and so does an XTC. But the voicing and feel and timbre aren't there for me.
UPDATE
I finally received an invoice after going back and forth with them about incorrectly applying tariffs and predatory storage fees. I also filed a formal trade violation complaint with US Customs and Border Patrol for broker misconduct.
They dropped the storage fees and dropped the...
Interesting. I never tried the loop/cable trick. How does that unlock an extra gain stage though? I would need to see a schematic to wrap my head around that one.
Nothing in that video, where you linked, sounds like modern high-gain/metal to me. It's fine for rock. But not where my mind goes for modern metal of today.
Of the ones I've actually played? Dual Rectifer (barely), 5150 and derivatives, Diezel VH4 Channel 3 and 4, Diezel Herbert, Framus Cobra, Bogner Uberschall, VHT/Fryette Ultra Lead and Deliverance, Rivera K-Tre, Hiwatt Super-Hi, most KSR amps, maybe some Engls, some Randalls (Thrasher and Satan)...
