I am not big on the idea of shimming the neck and to your point, it's not going to get me much. It looks like there is like a 1/4 inch of thin wood from the top of the guitar I could route. It looks like it would be enough to give me some pull up room.

The Floyd is hitting the top of the guitar. It plays great. Just not much room to lift up.

I recently got a Socal MIJ and noticed that you can't really pull up on the bar much. I have the Floyd set for floating but there isn't much room. I am guessing you can route the trem cavity a little to allow for a bit more pull up. Has anyone done this?

Yeah it seems to me the pickup model would be the least important part of the chain. Pretty much any vintage style humbucker should do fine. The real key is low gain, high volume.

It's annoying to me that all the USA select models now are H S S. Unless you want a T shape body, which has always been a fail for me.
