    Secrets to EVH Tone

Seems everyone has thoughts on this. Let's add another, microphonic preamp tubes! Been experimenting with them. They can sound terrible until you get them settled and then they are still problematic. BUT, some, when you get them settled sound great with additional depth and overtones. I...

Let’s Talk About Wizard Amps Gut Shots Modern Classic 50 Modded, Slightly

Bring the discussion and photos of your Wizard from the inside out! When i bought this amp I really liked it but it didn't quite have the kick in the lows I had heard about. Had my tech add a depth dial but it didn't do a lot so I had him take another look at it. He added a variable negative...

Wizard Modern Classic EL34 Tube Rolling

I have always been happy with the JJ EL34s in the Wizard. I rolled many of the EL34s I have in other amps lately so it's seems right to do it in the Wizard also. Anyone have experience with this? Will report soon.

Bogner Ecstacy 101B Differences Between New and Old Models?

I have thought about selling this amp a few times. This is from around 2000. Once this thing is setup right it is amazing. A quick clip of the Red channel boosted with a KOT. Maybe too much gain but hey... Anyone have experience with the new production models?

EL34G Power Tube Thoughts With Monomyth Marshall Clip

Bought a pair of old Sovtek EL34G on Ebay to try. Been rolling different EL34s in the Monomyth 1987x today as I have it out of the head shell. Wow, the EL34G are very touch sensitive in a Tool kind of way. So far I have compared welded Svetlana and new production Mullard. They are both more...

Driftwood Mini Nightmare Uh, I Didn’t Know ....

Had this amp for quite a while. Liked it but it was a bit dry and stiff. Had it prepped for storage for a few months but never actually moved it. Been experimenting with different tubes lately and thought I should set this up before putting it away. Glad I did! Sound perfect now and the...

New Tonex Release and Free Capture! Solid State Metal

Based on a Marshall VS8100 and an Ampeg VH140C. Give them a spin in the partner section of the app. Love both amps but the 8100 capture is surprising. https://www.tone.net/tonex/collections/live.ready.sound/solid.state.metal

Can't Think of a Good Reason to Keep It...

But I am finding it difficult to discard it. Fell off, apparently, years ago. Originally, I put it back in the shell. Few days ago I setup the amp for some tests and I found it on the floor after putting the amp away. What would you do?

Do you keep the back panel on your amps? Possibly embarrassing...

I end rolling tubes so much in the amps I don't generally put the back on after removing it. Do you keep yours on or off? This is the result currently:

    More Bogner Ecstacy Discussion

Finally got around to setting this amp up again. It has been years. Seriously great and versatile amp. The new/old switch is awesome! One thing that is amazing, with the loop on you can use the M Volume on the back to set how hot the power tubes are running at ANY volume. Pretty sure...

Unintentional, the Brand of Amps I Own the Most of is Mesa

Something I just noticed. I own more Mesa amps than any other brand. Marshall comes in second, followed by Fender. I have always loved Rectos. Some of the others are really great yet underrated, such as the Electradyne. Randall sure was busy with all the designs. Do you think all the...

Throwing this into the fold. Single SM57 on a Mesa 2x12 with V30. Settings are not the same. Set them to sound as close as I could.
