I bought my first PRS from Ward Brodt Music in Madison Wisconsin in 1995 - Custom 24 10 top - brand new for $1000. They were no longer going to be a dealer so they were blowing them out. Still have it and love it to this day.
Recently a friend of mine gave me a Mesa Mark IIC that he was...
@BeZo This is the Trio 28 board. Found it local used for $100 and it included one 4x out and power modules. Couldn't pass it up. I mounted the FX8 and EV1 with longer screws and washers and didn't use the Temple mounting plates. I love having the two 4x outs to be able to run 4CM into the...
I have both the FX8 MKII and the VP4 - love them both, both sound great and transparent, however once you take some time with the VP4 it is a great unit. I love the footprint of the VP4. I have the FX8 mounted on a temple audio board with two EV1 expression pedals. It is huge, but different...
So I got my new to me amp back from Mesa last week - the day I was leaving for a long weekend with my son. I was able to put it back in the cabinet last night and put the tubes in and start playing with it. Mike B did the + update, and went through it with what looks like a fine toothed comb...
So I was playing with a friend of mine the other night, and he had an old Boogie as a guest amp that crapped out on him a couple of months ago. He ended up GIVING IT TO ME. I took it home, did some research and find out it is a stock IIC with the EV speaker - Reverb, EQ, Simul Class. I messed...
I just found an Electra Dyne combo local here in Phoenix for $650 - I traded a Tech 21 Fly Rig and $450 for it. This is a great amplifier and takes pedals great. It does best when loud but still sounds good when at bedroom volumes. The only bad thing is that it is one heavy beast.
I get it - just be careful of the belt pack antenna. On the used one I got for the piezo it had the antenna issue. It doesn't come off but it feels like it wants to. I prefer the new build personally.
I have had both the GLXD 16 and the GLXD 16+ models - the + is worth it. It has an input in case your belt pack dies so you can still use the tuner vs. unplugging things and going to your first pedal after the wireless. I also like the antenna better on the +, as the round one on the standard...
I have a 2008 Standard gold top and the 2011 Custom Shop Lifeson Axcess. I am a PRS guy, but after playing the Lifeson with the Axcess heel I can see playing that much more. Looks are subjective to me - people have said it is a sin to have a Floyd on a Les Paul, but I really do like it.
Here is mine - 2011 Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Alex Lifeson model. An over the top Christmas gift from my wife. Yes, I still need to change the description on the frame for it.
Compare that to Temple Audio - I have two of their boards along with some of the side modules. Great board, but with all of the extras it can add up. I ended up losing one of the super tiny screws for a blank plate on the side and reached out to them for a replacement - they offered to send...
Yes - the EMX5 will do the same thing - In the description, it says
The Yamaha EMX5 is packed with a high-efficiency, dual 630-watt, Class D amplifier
You would take the A channel out from the amp/mixer to the Left main speaker, then chain a cable from that speaker to the Right main. Channel...
The Samson you have needs either an external amplifier or powered speakers (monitors) to get sound from them. I used something like the one below before, and if you look at the description, it has dual amplifiers - one for mains, one for monitors...
I use the Fractal FX8 for my Mesa Mark IV going 4CM and it is great. Be sure to look for the Mark II if you go that route, as that one has the relay switchers. I did have Redco build me a nice snake for it which is super convenient. I had them add in a couple of humbuster type cables which...
Here are mine - from left to right 1993 CE 24, 2000 Custom 24, 1995 Custom 24 10 top, 1994 Custom 24 10 top, 2006 Custom 24, and 1994 CE 22. They just feel right for me.
I bought a Parker Fly Deluxe in 1995 - it is such a great guitar, and I have had zero issues with it at all. Granted I take care of my stuff, but it plays just as well as when I bought it new. The frets are stainless so there is zero fret wear.
