WTB - Preproduction PhilX Model - Whats the deal with those

Hey Guys, I am a proud owner of a SS100 and want to buy another Friedman. I have the chance to grad an older 2014 PhilX amp. It is a preproduction Model with a different look, Variac on the back and a completely different gain cut. The gain cut sits on a completely different place Internally...

BE100 - Old vs. New Chokes - How important soundwise?

Hey :) I recently updated my 2014 BE100 to the current specs. Now I am wondering how important the choke is?!? I have the old Mercury choke and as far as I know dave uses a Classic Tone on the current models. Is this a really importand upgrade or is everything fine with the old one? Thanks...

Lower filtering on newest SS100 models?

https://www.google.de/search?q=friedman ... BnK1x4hKyM: Hey Dave Thank you very much for the reply. My SS100 has the same filtering as on the BE100 picture above but with the 16uf 16uf preamp filtering. And that's exactly why I am asking because there is only one 33uf and no 2x 33uf in...

Lower filtering on newest SS100 models?

I just bought a band new SS100 because I felt in love a few years ago when I tried it the first time :) I am just wondering if Dave lowered the filtering on the SS100. The preamp has a 16+16uf instead of the older 22+22uf I also noticed a missing 100uf cap in the power section. Can anybody...

Smallbox dead. Small blue thing fell out!

You dont need a rosin. Good quality soldering tin have a small amount of rosin anyway. You dont need a pro Soldering station but a quality one with enough heat on tap. In Germany such units costs about 30$. Should be ok for occasional jobs. Very important is a desoldering pump Imho. So you...

Updated my Friedman BE100 (Clips inside)

Hey guys, I know about the gain structure switch but whats different in the NFB? Small change on the NFB resistor?

Smallbox dead. Small blue thing fell out!

The resistor is definitely from the loop board. Look for the gap marked with R2 on the loop board. And there should be the resistor. Direct next to the brown capacitor on the up per lebt side. With a desolder pump and a soldering Iron it's done within five minutes.

Help needed with Friedman Runt 20 FX loop issue.

Yes I know. It's a FET loop. But the current Metro loop and friedman loop are quite similiar. Depends on the pedals. But classic true bypass pedals really do not work really well. Also the loop is very prone for electrical noise coming from power supplies. But that's only my experience. I...

Help needed with Friedman Runt 20 FX loop issue.

Sorry guys but that is the Metro/Friedman FX Loop. I had almost every friedman in the last years and all of them had popping issues with true bypass pedals. Hang in a relay pedal like Strymon stuff or buffered pedals and your fx loop problems are gone. . . Soundwise the best amps on the market...

2 Questions to Dave - Power Tubes and FX Loop

Hi Dave, just two short questions: - Is it possible to pull the outer power tubes on a 100 watter and use half of the cabinets impedance to reduce to 50 Watt? - FX Loop Return: 3/4 on the return level pot is app. unity volume. Is it advisable to run the loop that way and use the front master...

    BE vs Phil X

Good description on the PhilX. I agree with every word. But the key is the music you play. If you are a straight rocker/hardrocker and you don't need some bluesier or softer tones, than the PhilX is your amp. When you need some softer, spongier and bluesier tones the PhilX isn't perfect. The...

    Be100 loop

You definitely got me wrong, dude. Im very happy to hear that the MV is not neccessarely on the back or that there are more ways to use the loop. . No critics or sth like that. I always thought you MUST use the return Level as global master with engaged loop. So it was a great tip for me to dial...

    Be100 loop

Holy shiiit. That's why I hesitated to buy a SS100 or BE100. I don't want to have my master volume on the back

    Be100 loop

Ok?!? You dial the loop to unity volume... And then you only use your front master? Interesting. I always thought the back volume is your global master and the front should be Set to 5.

Dirty Shirley (DS40) owners: what are you using for a boost?

I also really like the Archer stuff. The silver one is more special, the gold one is more open and clean. Both really great pedals for any music style or amp.
