Thanks! Yesir... 5A+ roasted birdseye maple custom neck
Thanks for kind words.. Funny that you pick Bad Man/Devil's Deal, they are the 2 oldest songs on album. They were recorded separately from the rest of the album and they are the earliest material.
Thanks! Bad Man/Devil's Deal were...
My band's first album is released.. check it out.
My guitar tracks were mainly recorded with my DIY strat thru my splawn QR
Entire album was written, tracked, mixed, mastered, distributed by the band. I did the mixes
check out these guitar solos (EVH inspired content):
Fast Track ~@2:55...
depends.. My band chose no click on the songs we recorded so far. If your drummer is all over the place tempo wise then probably a good idea to lock him down but if the song has a natural, slight tempo increase then you might want to capture that
You guys are way overcomplicating this.. I was basically just asking of those 3 el34, is there one that is an obvious better choice to get closer to evh power section compression than the others..
Obviously a single power tube choice is not going to magically get you evh tone, I'm not asking...
thanks for detailed info
my whole reason for the post was just what should I buy that's currently out there and not NOS etc.. lol. I don't need it identical to his sound, just in the same ballpark. I think people get caught in the weeds fairly quickly chasing ed's tones...
I run my QR @ 50W and I'm mainly talking recording for the purpose of this discussion.
I went and bought the tung sols, mullard, and svetlanas.. I'll try them each for a few days back to back (both w/ a new bias for each)
Yeah I agree.
I think the wood's main contributor to the "sound" would be the resonance and/or attack of when you play a note. I actually think the neck wood has a more profound effect than the body wood
I have found wood is very unique and just because it's a species of wood doesn't mean they sound the same; 2 cuts of ash could sound completely different. I'm assuming it's because how the wood fibers grew and their density/pattern. I think it matters more on a particular cut of wood, not...
you could just clip one lead and bend it slightly away from the board... and if you dont like the tone, push it back down to the board and put a drop of solder..
can you go into detail what those "2 issues" are specifically?
