The JB is great, currently have JB/59 in my LP and SG. Many many great records were made with a plain ‘ol JB and then lots of those players released either sig pickups and/or used boutique versions but their best tones people chase are almost exclusively stock pickups or duncan/dimarzio.

The strat is still my #1 but I’m already on my 2nd refret since getting it, have played the crap out of it. So I try to spread the wear evenly and honestly rotate to a different one each day these days. And of course some things the strat is not as suited to as others.

I agree is pretty weird. But in my unscientific comparison the new one seems to sound better so a net positive.

I love my Gibsons but I certainly don’t mind if someone hates them. Tons of other options so play the ones you like vs letting Gibson live rent free in your head IMO.
