Yeah good point too. A guitar track in a mix usually sounds different than it does solo'd.

Think it's also worth mentioning trying to get an amp in a room to sound like a recorded mixed/mastered tone is often going to be an uphill battle.

GC is notorious for this. I bought a MIUSA Charvel from GC Used that was listed as "good condition, some scratches" and when it showed up the entire backplate had several huge cracks in it. It also showed up without the case that the ad said it had. They were so confused when I went to return it...

I got lucky and found a PS1 for $375 on Reverb a few months ago. The PS2 has a few more bells and whistles, but I believe I'm correct in saying the attenutation/load box function should be basically identical between the two. Good luck though, either way great pieces of gear.

I had the Empress. Really versatile pedal, I found it to be too much for what I do, I like simple. But it's worth a try if you're looking for a para eq.

Yeah, if you get a chance and are interested, see if you can take your Yeti to GC or a friend who has a V30 cab. My Yeti 100 into that V30 cab was the only time I've ever had people come up to me after a show to praise my tone.

Have you tried V30s yet? My Yeti 100 sounded best in my EVH cab with Chinese V30s, to my ears at least.

RIP, he obviously did a ton of great work with amps for many artists, but he was also a nice guy who was very approachable about amps and music. I don't know when he stopped (if he stopped at all), but he was modding and working on amps in the NY area for some time.

I've never ordered direct from them, but I needed support for a PSII issue I had and they responded within hours and mailed me the replacement parts the next day, at no charge. Think the guy's name was Dave, who responded to me.

Not sure if they were part of the LA scene, but Tora Tora definitely qualifies as a band in that style that never got big recognition.

Buzzing problems I've had were due to transformers, not tubes so it makes sense the tube rolling didn't fix it. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can give you direction on how to address/test it.

Had a Keeley modded DS1. No matter what amp I put it through, I thought it sounded pretty awful. Possible that there was something wrong with it honestly, but it was really cold and unmusical distortion. Tried messing with settings, but I never ended up using it for more than 2 or 3 minutes...

I'm surprised people still use MF. Certainly we hear more bad gear stories than good ones, but MF is by far the one I hear most of regarding bad experiences. It's been at least ten years that I've heard MF horror stories and they don't seem to be getting any better.
