Cleans are actually improved. Just make sure the “pull gain cut” control is pulled. And you can adjust how full or chimey the cleans are by adjusting the tight control. I like it set really low on clean channel. The 3 way low end switch also affects the orange / clean channel.

I have before and after of the same amp. I’m not 100%, but I think the before is with iPhone and after is with an SM57. I hesitate to post it in anticipation of the, “…it’s not the same” comments.

Here’s a Trem-O-Verb I just completed. With the 3 way low end switch. I go through the 3 settings in this video. Hard to capture on video but it’s a really cool addition.

Yeah. There’s no reason why there should be a volume difference. It isn’t the resistor, or lack thereof that would cause that.

BE and HBE should be equally affected. All signal from the preamp runs to the MV. I’ve bypassed the resistor before and volume increased. But not by double. I know he uses 470k too. There’s probably both out there.

To test all you need is one alligator clip. Clip one side to the treble pot wiper and the other side to the input lug of the master volume pot. It’ll bypass the resistor and you’ll hear how it sounds without it. To make the change requires soldering.

No the cap goes on the gain pot in the amp. The best scenario would be to get different common values and experiment to see what sounds best. And even better, make the gain a push pull pot so you can have both options. Stock when pushed in and bright cap when pulled. I did this to the mini...

Yeah these are easy and easily reversible.

It’s beautiful. I would consider it. But I’m looking for a chrome chassis F so that I can put my new mod into it. The mod is reversible if I ever wanted to put it back. But it just doesn’t seem right to do that to a Rev E.

The first two will affect both. If I recall correctly, the Deluxe has separate gains for BE and HBE. So you’d only affect one or the other, unless you put the cap on both pots. I haven’t tried the bright cap on a Friedman. But I have a feeling a small cap will add just the right amount of...

Friedmans have a 220k or 470k resistor between treble wiper and master volume. Remove it and it’ll be more aggressive. Volume will increase slightly as well. Can also remove the snubber cap on 100k cathode for v2b CF. Try a small bright cap on gain pot maybe. Like 220pf.
