Tried these settings last night. Very interesting EQ setup that I wouldn't have thought to try. It actually worked for all the modes on Ch 3. Tight, fast tracking metal all the way.
Yeah I may try EL34. I have a few sets I can put in to see if they bias in the right range. If not I would probably get some JJ E34Ls rated for the Mark. I've always had good luck with those tubes and like the extended low end.
I had the Mark IV a while ago now. I'm finding the Mark V more organic and natural sounding...or at least its easier to get it there.
I just dropped a quad of new JJ 6L6 in it and was playing at a pretty decent volume, maybe like low band practice volume and I am really enjoying this amp.
There...
I gigged Quick Rods and also had a Super Comp. I loved from Splawn to a Helios 100, which I found absolutely perfect. I ran it as a single channel amp as that was what I needed for my hard rock band. Raw and aggressive, but had a bit more control of the top end and it didn't get as fatiguing as...
Traded a TC-100 for a Mark V 90 Watt.
I've got a lot of exploring and testing to do, but a first run through the channels in modes at low volume gives me the impression I'm going to love this thing.
I had a Mark IV a while back and also have a 5:50+ Express. I've read a lot about the Mark V...
OP, I replied to this thread on TGP.
I'll add here that the Mesa is way easier to use as a 3 channel amp. You can make all 3 channels work together with no problem. Definitely a bit harder on the XTC amps.
When I had the 20th Anniversary EL34 XTC I often felt it was a bit congested and lacking...
This seems promising. I'm in the process of switching up my Pedaltrain Classic 1 and looking to incorporate a HX Stomp for all effects and stereo out. My goal is to get everything I need in that modest footprint. If using the wah on the HX doesn't work out I'm thinking a mini wah is the best...
Who is using a Dunlop mini version or similar (Wilson looks like same size and design)?
Curious how the feel of them is. Easy to get used to? No big deal or just feels too weird to use? Other gotchas or things to know?
I would want one with the auto return so switching challenges if any wouldn't...
Such a cool little amp. I had a Splawn Super Comp Mini, which was this but just the drive side. Instead of a clean it had the onboard solo volume.
Right before I sold it I started finding some ways to set it up for lower gain and smoother tones that felt great to play. Kind of wanted to keep it...
This makes me miss mine. It was my all time favorite that I gigged with in the hard rock cover band I was in from 2007 until last year. Cycled through many amps in those years, but that Helios was the cream of the crop.
Same here. When I first bought a pistol for shooting and no intention to carry I went with the H&K VP9 because of the replacable back and side panels that made it much easier for me to grip and control properly. Awesome gun BTW! But really I bring it up because I couldn't get comfortable with...
