Mesa OS with v30s and Greenbacks?

This was greenbacks in a Mesa OS. The extended low end of the OS subdues the mids a bit and balances the tone nicely imo. Still has that greenback bark with Marshall heads but not as honky as they are in say a 1960 cab.

    THIS "Pantera" > THAT Pantera

I dialled in this Dime-ish tone for my brother a while back, think we got pretty close. Dime disproved the myth that you need tons of mids for note definition. Once you suck out that 1khz and 2.2khz everything becomes clearer. Sure, Dime's tone was possibly overly scooped at times but every...

Here's the NEW Judas Priest album!

Loving the riffage on this album. The tone though is too smooth and sounds flat as a result. Needs more hair and bite.

    New Judas Priest!

Sounds like a Kemper. It bakes that chirp into every profile.

    Hammett On Beato

I think the St. Anger experience didn't help either. In Some Kind Of Monster he correctly pointed out that not having solos on the album would date it but James and Lars were going through an identity crisis thanks to the popularity of Nu-Metal at the time so Kirk was relegated to the role of...

    Metallica’s Rigs 2023 tour

Crap mids, no chunk, no balls (n) But hey, why sound like this when you can save so much on transport costs?

    Best sepultra album

Arise for riffing. Chaos AD for vibe, songwriting and production.

OK...What Amps Do You NEVER Regret Selling?

Peavey Windsor. I remember the buyer testing it and me thinking there isn't a snowball's chance in hell he's buying this atrocity but somehow he did and I rid myself of the worst amp I've ever played.

James Hetfield and his Marshall’s used on Black Album to restore lost frequencies

"Closely guarded secrets" :ROFLMAO: What a load of tripe, just say that unlike Flemming Rasmussen, they didn't take detailed notes so can't remember everything about a tone tracked 30+ years ago.

    Mesa Mark IIC+ prices?

My memories of the quad are how expansive but tight the low end was on palm mutes, the incredible note definition at even the most obscene gain levels and how the Kemper couldn't get even close to profiling it accurately.

    METALLICA - 72 SEASONS (2023) [FULL ALBUM]

Very disappointing. They need to get the hell out of that "HQ" studio of theirs. They don't craft songs in there, James is in there riffing and hunting for something good but isn't allowed to move on from anything as Lars insists on 'arranging' verses and choruses from throwaway riffs and before...

Kirk addresses the internet trolls ( us )

True, when he had Bob Rock acting as drill instructor he could and did deliver a fitting solo for the song. On the year and a half video his early attempts at the Unforgiven solo were diabolical. He's not one of those guitarists that can do 5 takes and have each of them come out incredible. He...

    Hetfield + Jose

That's great that it sounded "insane" in the room but sadly that insanity isn't reflected on the album. Is there an example of a Greg Fidelman metal tone that isn't junk? It's ok to mix some records with the 'big picture' in mind but this is Metallica, the guitars absolutely must have authority...

    Another Metallica track drops tomorrow

Poor Rob. Longest serving bassist, served nothing but junk material to work with. At this point he must look at Ron McGovney with envy.

Metallica ...Creeping Death... Now that's more like it.

Peak performance right there. Back when Lars brought ENERGY to the band. Nobody could be critical if he only recently declined, given his age, but he has been stinking it up live since the early 00's. That's half of their career. What a shame.

Kirk couldn't have saved the recent records even if he suddenly developed good vibrato and ditched the wah. Lars is the biggest culprit and not just because of his sloppy drumming. On the "making of" Hardwired and Death Magnetic videos James is going through the motions of banging out throwaway...
