I watched a little about the Badlander, sounded freaking awesome. I think that or a IIC+ RI would be really up my alley. I feel like the 90s RI might be just a massive sized overkill for me. The BL size is pretty nice to go along with that sound. Any downsides to it or the IIC+ RI?
Thank you! You all have put Mesa back on my radar. I had a Tremoverb once and sold it thinking I preferred Orange, then I had a Mark IV that started smoking and has now sat at a tech's shop for oh, maybe, 6 years now? Kind of have given up on it.
I have a Vox, Fender and Supro and like them for...
Awesome, glad for more feedback, thanks! While it would've been cheaper, I think I'll be happier with a BE. I will look at the Badlander, too, but I don't know a lot about it.
Would you sell a Butterslax or EVH 5153 100S to fund it? I think the Slax would obviously be much closer to the same...
I wanted to hear that. I'd heard it before somewhere. I'm officially off the KK ledge for now. lol
I have other stuff that covers me for my 90's/country band stuff, it's really about trying more Friedman. I sold a ton of stuff I liked a lot a couple of days ago so I could try stuff I hope to...
That's where I think my heart is. I had one years ago and didn't realize that it could actually do the JJ's sound right on according to Dave (via this site) and got rid of it too quickly. I jumped to deciding it wasn't what I expected, was too smooth and polite and was probably just mad at...
Reasonable. It's good advice. Surely could get close to the KK with a boost and/or mr scary mod and a noise pedal. I've just always wanted one for the KT88's and it being a 2203 (versus my 2204), mostly, the built in features are just also nice. So definitely wouldn't sell an 84 2204 to fund one...
I fear they'll be too dark for the Orange cab, that's been a concern I've had about them. The CV-75's were kind of perfectly at that spot where they just sounded right in it. Unfortunately I bought the 8 ohm version of those and ended up deciding I want to get back to 16. What kind of cab do you...
I'd like to find some of the better V30's. I will need to sell some of these first.
I had a second PPC412 a couple years back but sold it since I liked the EVH cab better. I'm about to just suck it up and buy another 4x12 to stick the EV's in. Might get something with speakers I can resell and...
@Klauth It's mostly for blasting. Might I just be smarter to stick the EVM's in a 2x12 so I can crank the two harder as well and leave the V30's in the Orange? I love having casters on it, it is so much nicer to not have to walk it around. lol The thought of rocking the 4 EVM's is always...
How does that 1x12 sound cranked with the EVM? I've never done that.
I have a Peavey 2x12 I've had shoved aside to sell but I may just stick two of the EVM's in there. It won't be 4, but it's open/closed back optional. I can't imagine it won't sound awesome. It just won't be 4x12 awesome.
@romanianreaper That's where I am with it. Not exciting. I like them fine and that's all. Those Neo Creambacks sound great in the demos. I have had the M65's and didn't care for them, at least not compared to other speakers I've had at the time. I always choose the Neo's in the demos versus...
EVH 5153 100s - I've tried to sell it, I've tried to tell myself it's too generic in a modern EVH-ridden world but it sounds so awesome that I can't quit it
Friedman Butterslax - The clean channel is mind-blowingly cool and the angry channels have so much clarity. I prefer it to the BE100D I had...
For reference; I use a Quad Cortex with a Fryette PS100 most and favor EVH/Marshall type sounds. Also I have other cabs. One is an EVH 4x12 with the G12EVH's. Another is the Friedman 412/15 with G12H30's and Fullbacks. And a PPC212 with a Redback/alnico Gold.
My favorite combinations have been...
I would say bass isn't it's strongest-suit, but when I take the casters off and put it on the floor and crank it, it does a great job in my opinion. Doesn't sound like an Orange 4x12. lol But, you know.
I had a Friedman 4x12 with the Greenbacks/V30's when I got the BE100-D and really preferred...
After much regret for selling a RV I and returning a MK III (the reverb was messed up and I didn't care to replace it), I finally got another MK III RV 100. I think the color pulled me in and the difference from all the Marshalls held on. I love Marshall's but I had so many of that type of sound...
I have one and love it like crazy. Well made and I think the EVH speakers sound incredible. I had some Chinese Greenbacks (which some say they prefer I think I read?) and I didn't like them nearly as well. To each their own, certainly.
