Every component of a guitar has an effect on the overall tone. Whether or not you think that tone is good or bad is down to the owner and listener. Add a ton of gain and those small differences become less. If hardware didn't make a difference, there wouldn't be a huge aftermarket industry.

I ran 1.0mm for years until I started to have hand issues. Two surgeries later, I stated using .88mm. My hands don't hurt anymore.

Killer band. One of my favorite guitar tones of all time. The benchmark for rock tone, IMHO.

The master volume is nice, but the amp really shines when you can get the power section working as well.

I agree, you shouldn't have to do that on a new pickup. But it will fix the problem.

You can also remove the cover and place a piece of masking or painters tape over the slug coil. This helps to keep it from vibrating with higher volumes.
