Frustrated AF with my amp search

I must have missed the part about the DR. I saw HR DX, but alas. EDIT: found it. Sorry for the confusion I second some sort of a Peavey Classic then; 30/50. Look for a 2000s Peavey Ranger 212, clean is based on a Twin. Dirty is usable. Fender Prosonic would be good, too.

Soldano HR100s and Decatones: Current thinking?

My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that back then all the amps in the line had the SLO preamp, maybe a few components different here and there, but the main differences were in the power section and transformers, i.e DeYoung only in the SLO. The Deca is 3 channels like the x88 preamp...

    ‘68 Vintage Marshall Plexi Search

Depends on condition. Stock v mods. If mods, what was done; how many red dots are there? OG trannys? Well maintained? How do they sound? If they are all stock and good condition, 100% all the way around. My opinion.

    Black Album

Yes. Love it. I like Smell the Glove and Lick My Love Pump. That one’s got simple lines intertwining. It’s really a mix and of a Bach and Mozart piece—a Mach piece, if you will

Splawn Quick Rod vs Suhr SE 100?

Had a Splawn Pro Mod back in the day that I believe was essentially a QR with KT88s. To use a VH comparison, I thought it sounded very 1984 ish in a band setting. Never played the SE 100, but I think it is probably more like VH “Dream Is Over” tone (left speaker only dry tone) off of the...

    NGD, it's ironic...

I dunno man. All Signs point to that being a pretty great axe with all the sigs there. Looks don’t really matter — it’s not whatcha got, it’s What You Give. May it inspire you both in Song and Emotion; write metal songs, chugging songs, and a Love Song.

    the 90's were so awesome

80s was the golden era. No question. If you were raised in the 80s, the mid- to late 90s bands sucked all the fun out of the room. MTV went from airing music videos to Real World and Yo MTV Raps. I recall seeing Satriani in Austin in 1995. Chris Duarte opened. Satriani came out surprisingly...

Marty wants solos to go away

There are a lot of “stock” solos out there. I remember contributing to a group jam recording a few years back and the leader getting mad at me for not doing pentatonic licks or scalar runs, but instead trying to come up with something different to stand out. F that. How many times do we need...

David Lee Roth Fires Shots at Wolfgang Van Halen: ‘This F-ckin’ Kid’

I think Wolfgang’s size is probably due to water/fluid retention from anti-depressants. He had a dad that was a lifelong alcoholic and his parents separated when he was about 9-10. No doubt he’s seen a lot in his time. Plus, he grew up in and still lives in a Hollywood bubble, so his outlook...
