What's your favorite guitar and why?

2009 Anderson Drop Top Classic. Neck feels amazing. It now has an HSS configuration with SF1R/SF1/H2+ pickups to be a bit more versatile. The one guitar I'll never part with.

Anyone here from the early days ??

Didn't realize my old avatar was gone. Probably happened due to the board transition or something. Added it back.

Question for Recto Purists and Pros

The one I dislike the most is the 3 channel pre multi-watt version. It's a bit harsh for my tastes, and I find the low end to be the most uncontrollable. Ironically, my favorite is the 3 channel multi-watt version, but I've never played the ultra early ones like the Rev Cs and such. So I can't...

First crack at the Mark VII Clips

    Great tones, nice work

Ola`s Take on the Mark VII

To me, it highlights the biggest drawback of the Mark series flagship amps, and that's the single 5 band EQ. You can get a good clean sound, and you can get a good lead or heavy sound. But channel 2, where you want some sort of crunch going on, is always in that weird spot where you probably...

I have an ENGL Savage module I'd be willing to let go, if you're interested.

    Fret Leveling, Set up Frequency?

    1. Initial setup to my liking right when I buy it. This is a full setup from tweaking the nut, bridge, action, truss rod and so forth until I can get it dialed within my specs. If I can't, then I go to step 2. I do small tweaks every time I notice something feels off which is through natural...

    Furman: P-1800 AR vs PFR

Worth noting that's 20A, so you'll have that different style plug on the end of it.

    swapping pup magnets....

Another recommendation for the JB with the Alnico 8. Very cool sounding variant of the JB. One thing worth noting is that not all Alnico magnets sound the same, even if they're called an "Alnico 5". John Suhr has talked about this a bit on TGP if you poke around...

Anyone used these EMG pickups in a HSS Strat type guitar?

I highly second this mod. It's a 22k/.033uF config from what I recall? Also, as a slight aside to the OP, the 85 and 89 sound a little different from each other. If you're a big EMG 85 fan, you might be a little disappointed that the 89 isn't quite the same. Same goes for its SA counterpart...

Power amp/stereo power amp suggestions for wet/dry rig

The RT2/50 is a sick power amp that Bruce Egnater made. Is there a reason you don't want to use that?

    Presence Circuit and Shunt Resistor

I still don't get it. So because there are builders out there who do it that way, I am supposed to re-evaluate my opinion on DC on pots? Wild

    Presence Circuit and Shunt Resistor

I am not sure what this means, exactly?

    Presence Circuit and Shunt Resistor

I'm the opposite. I never understood why someone would identify a noise, then leave it as-is without fixing it if it's a simple fix. You found a noise that occurs when you interact with the amp. You have identified the noise occurs because there is DC present. I'm assuming we all know the basics...

    What's Your Favorite Engl?

Savage because it's very brutal but won't get lost in the mix. If it's too expensive, check out the Synergy stuff.

    Presence Circuit and Shunt Resistor

I'm simple. This is how Bruce taught me how to do it, and it's basically what I do. Works well and no scratchy pots.
