    Actually good female guitarists?

Prolly gonna get me laughed out of the thread, since there's absolutely nothing metal about her, but has Hannah Wicklund been mentioned? She played up here a couple years ago at my city's Mile of Music festival, and while she could have a full career merely as an amazing singer, I can attest...

    NAD Cornford MK50

I've always wanted to try one of those! Over the innarwebz, they just scream classy!

So I'm starting to get my XTC 50 watt rig dialed in...

Welp, here we go: the first of (likely too) many clips to come as I get my new rig dialed in ... Let me know what you think! P.S.: Thanks, YouTube, for capturing Goofy Guitar Face #6 in the thumbnail. Much appreesh.

HNAD to me! Bogner 3534 50 watt content

It's been a minute, for sure! It's been a long time since I needed to change up my rig, and when I started thinking about doing that, I started lurking on the forums again. It's cool to have something worth posting about, lol!

HNAD to me! Bogner 3534 50 watt content

Welp, I got too old to lug my big Shiva head around to rehearsals & gigs any more. So I sold it and my Suhr Badger mini rig, and got me my first brand new amp in I don't know how many years. And it got here TODAY!!! So here's a long, rambling, but (for me) EXCITING unboxing & playthru vid of...

    Bogner Helios JB45 Clips

Good LARD, that sounds fantastic! Man, I just sold my Shiva in order to downsize (prolly either to a 3534 or an SLO-30). Now I gotta wonder how big & heavy this JB is, because all three channels sound killer!

OK...What Amps Do You NEVER Regret Selling?

Marshall JTM 30 combo H&K Edition Tube combo Those two were just ridiculously thin and brittle sounding. Koch Studiotone 20 head Had a real love/hate thing with this one for a few years — loved the features, size, & convenience; never really bonded with the overall voicing of the amp. Also...

What's the best "overly drenched in 80s effects" song?

I'd think anything off of Hysteria ... but this is prolly the most, um, "produced" track:

What’s an amp you want to give a second chance

The only amp I've actually bought twice is a Budda Superdrive 18 combo, and the second time around it just clicked & I've had that amp now for like eight years & change. Thing is, I went looking for one the second time because my tastes were changing and I realized that what I was probably...

Post a pic of your #1 all-around killer guitar

These three are about equal, but gun-to-my-head, the Mirage I Koa has been my #1 the longest (since ’98), so she ultimately wins. But I love them all!

    Help!!! Mods!

Sick Michael, man — a blast from the past. Can’t believe you remembered me, lol. I haven’t been on RT in years, but just happened to get curious and checked back in. Hope you’re well, mang!

    Noob tube question :-/

The preamp in my Koch Studiotone uses three 12ax7s. Now, I know that the V1 input tube is usually the one closest to the input jack ~ natch. And I also know that the preamp tube closest to the transformer is usually the phase inverter, right? But the Studiotone is billed as being "class A."...

Big Batch o' Clips! Dr. Z, Trace Elliot, & Koch amps!!!

Okay, so I'm trying to get a definitive comparison of my three current amps. Here's what I came up with... First, I compared all three heads through the same speaker cab: a Crate Blue Voodoo closed back, ported 1x12 loaded with a Vintage 30, using the same mic position, and at about the same...

So, having decided to sell my Maz Jr...

I'm actually thinking of trying to trade for a Budda Superdrive combo. Which is a bit mad, as I tried one several years ago & didn't quite bond with it. But it's been years now, & my tastes (and ears) have changed quite a bit. And besides, I didn't really keep it long enough back then to give...

Had an apostrophe w/ my Koch Studiotone (Dr Z content)

Okay, so having compared my Koch Studiotone to the Dr. Z Maz 18 Jr NR back when I first acquired the Maz a couple months ago, I had decided back then that the Maz was several orders of magnitude better tone-wise than the Koch. Of course, that was running the Maz through one cab/speaker...

    Dual overdrive pedals?

Hey, y'all, I'm currently using a Banzai Fireball II od in front of my Dr. Z Maz 18 Jr. head. I run the amp at "mid-gain," c. AC/DC crunch with the guitar's volume up & great cleans when I roll back the volume knob. I use the Banzai primarily as a boost ~ level almost maxed, the overdrive gain...

So, this is neat & frustrating (Dr. Z & Swart content)

Been a while since I posted a Z thread, so HI! :D As you may remember, True Believers, once I got the mad volume under control via the Swart Night Light attenuator, I rapidly fell deeply in lust/love with my Dr. Z Maz 18 Jr. NR head. That process continues unabated (although, as mentioned, a...

So, the Dr. Z is making it harder to enjoy my other amps...

I spent an hour or so the other night just going back and forth between the Maz Jr., the Speed Twin, & the Studiotone. And I gotta say, now that I have the attenuator to control the Maz's volume, it's just so responsive & fun to play that, I dunno, it's like I just don't dig my other amps as...

6-band EQ in loop: frequencies for solo boosting?

Running a clean boost in the loop of my Dr. Z as a volume (not gain) boost for solos doesn't work quite as well with the attenuator I'm now running between the amp & speaker. So I replaced it with my MXR 6-band eq... But it's kinda tough figuring which frequencies to boost without a full band...

I JUST FELL IN LOVE w/ MY Dr. Z -- FINALLY!!!

Ao on the recommendation of a fellow RTer, I ordered a Swart Night Light attenuator -- Lemme tellya, this thing is a-MAZ-ing! (Pun fully intended. But seriously. Yeah.) Now that I have complete control over the overall output level of the amp, I can truly appreciate the richness of the tone...
