Any amp with as much gain and upper harmonic content as the Uber Ultra is going to be very speaker-dependent. Speakers are the most influential factor when it comes to shaping the highs of any amp. The more gain and treble content you use, the more your speakers will matter.

The EL34 version will accept KT88's. I believe most EL34 amps will accept 6L6's (but not the other way around) as well with a small mod or two.

I've always found the best fuzz tones to be extremely situational and temporary, something you only throw on every now and then to get a different texture for a few bars, then turn it the hell off. I've never liked tones where fuzz is the primary home base kind of sound.
