I like modern short-plate tubes in some of my amps, expecially combo amps.
I always prefer an NOS if I can get one in there in some spot but not always feasible.
I will say that I have some Ruby's in an amp and Groove Tubes, and some nice shuguangs before all of the stuff happened over there...
I was getting some straight gorgeous fuzz tone territory going on with some quick dialing and did not expect this to be capable of that kind of thing at all.
Kudos!
I could not help myself and had to plug in and play it for a bit.
Whoa.
Crazy versatile.
This is a whole different animal....
No offense but ....
Head and shoulders above my other Super Drive...
Compared to a Boss, it isn't even in the same category......
This pedal is absolutely amazing.
Look what just arrived!
Absolutely stunning pedal. The finish and knobs on this are perfect.
Hard to convey through photos just how nice this looks, let alone the quality feel in the hands.
Cannot wait to fire it up after work.
Many, many thanks for Wayne for just being the absolute MAN...
Part of the issue is really with the 300k pots. They make them sound wimpy and mushy. My LP has the 300k, but I did swap them with 500k cts, no tones, and one is a push/pull blower switch for bridge direct to out. Wiring is so much fun. I really, really need to take up side-work around here...
Hey all,
Title is a joke, of course.
After having a bit of an on/off relationship over the past several years with my Gibson 498T bridge pickup, I am totally into this pickup.
The only thing is, I tried it out in another guitar and it sounds MASSIVE.
At first, I figured it was due to the...
Again, I get to touch Gibsons people dream of. If you are feeling that vibe, good for you man for sure.
I think this guy would tell you that your Tan Pants epis and Gibsons can't touch this MIC masterpieces.
Others just don't cut the cheese!
Again, my buddy has a couple of these, nice but NO man these aren't even close to what you are saying.
No, they aren't better than even a new studio, they feel like an Epiphone.
If you like Epi, cool, but they aren't Gibson and apparently never will be.
Just like Epiphone for what it is...
I get some killer NOS tubes that are quiet as can be for around that. If they are long black plates, I throw down a bit more. Sounds a touch steep to me but idk man everything is crazy now.
They just aren't that great of amps, at the least the current production stuff.
Mushy, undefined, brash and small sounding.
We have one of their largest dealers somewhat local to me and I have played many models all with matching cabinets and such.
Just not very good overall.
Maybe their...
My view is probably skewed, as my Les Paul is a studio+ that was only made for like a year.
I am close friends with a pretty well known guy in the Gibson restoration world and get to play on models from the 70s to current, including customs and all sorts of wild stuff.
My Les Paul definitely...
My buddy has this one.
Absolutely beast of a guitar.
He also has a couple of other really nice Epiphones, some custom or one off runs.
I have upgraded pickups and electronics in various models and such.
Nice electronics with CTS pots and stuff.
I always think about how nice they feel and...
I know that can't be what you are talking about at all but for whatever reason, Stretch Armstrong and Vac Man came to mind.
Vac man has a little vacuum you would pull the air out with and it would be all 'muscled up'.
