What pick ups would you put in a Gibson Explorer ?

Yep, I go 50s wiring atw. I don't really enjoy split or tapped tones for the most part either so I have done away with that as well. The simpler, the better for the most part. The reason I ask is that I found I really enjoy neck humbucking pickups with a .015 value and I have found I dig...

What pick ups would you put in a Gibson Explorer ?

Another thought - have you messed with the wiring config or the pots/caps to see if you can shape the current set to closer match what you are seeking? Just a thought.

    Momentary kill switch

Do it! You can get the button in any color. The Tesi legit feels great, like a real arcade button.

What pick ups would you put in a Gibson Explorer ?

I have a set of bare knuckle Silos in a guitar. Definitely very HD sounding and great sounding pickups, but I feel the urge to swap them out. For $500, I should not feel that urge lol I have only heard a couple of Bare knuckle sets that seem to sound good to me, the rest have a certain EQd...

As a further update: I LOVE these pickups in my LP. I honestly think they're perfect. Kudos to Planet Tone.

    Momentary kill switch

Just get a mini toggle switch, you could do the same thing by flipping it back and forth or leaving it on/off if you want it to not be momentary like that.

I do guitars and some pedal stuff. Yeah, yours is even smaller diameter! 😂 What it probably is that I bought a roll previously that was quite a thick diameter and got used to it. I'm sure once I fully adjust, this diameter will be fine.

    Momentary kill switch

Pardon the dust, I've been working on this guitar quite a bit of late.

    Momentary kill switch

I also use the Tesi switches. Super nice and easy as can be to connect. It just needs to hit ground and hot, as mentioned above.

.031" It is really nice to work with. I don't mind feeding it in. It is just a touch too flimsy for my handling though so a bit thicker for sure next time.

I went with the diameter solder everyone recommends and I wish it were just a hair thicker. I'll remember that next order!

Easy cheap fun for my Jem

This one was meh playing until I realized the previous owner had the bridge mounting screws locked too high. After I fixed that, this thing plays like the wind. I've had it now since 2009 I think. Signed by Steve when he performed at the HOB in 2012. $500? Dammnnnn. Reminds me of a...

NPUD! Planet Tone Blues Heritage set for my Les Paul

I have been impressed with the sets I have tried. Some aren't my thing, but they are the thing described. I have a buddy into 50s style pickups and he loves theirs. I am more into modern music but love something that is not compressed and sterile. These work really really well with a .015...

NPUD! Planet Tone Blues Heritage set for my Les Paul

These kill for drop tuning! I have been ripping this Les Paul in D standard and these pickups are just screaming and chugging along. Had no clue a classic PAF with a bit 'more' would be so damn wonderful. Played these again with fresh ears this morning. Absolutely killer pickups. I am very glad...

NPUD! Planet Tone Blues Heritage set for my Les Paul

I am definitely a lead player but love some gnarly nasty rhythm guitars. To describe the way my music sounds - emo, heavy, jazzy, funky, weird. Does that help? I go between crushingly heavy, to snappy clean, odd timed fusion rhythms and melodies. For whatever reason, i was inclined to tune my...

    NPD! Griffin Analog Treble Booster

Oh I know it, I need to put a down payment on one ASAP. They are wired in, but i have not gotten any time to test them except for less than 15 minutes, which I spent solely on the neck pickup. That being said - best neck pickup for an LP I have heard so far. Jumping the gun? Yes, certainly...
