For what it's worth, I also replaced all of my instrument cabling with BTPA cables as well. I like Switchcraft ends on those personally. CA-0446 is the instrument cable.

You'll probably want a Cioks power supply. I have a Zuma, which I love, but the Cioks provide more versatility overall I think.

Sounds like you had the trim pot set weird or something to me. I mean, there is a mode that specifically is pretty much all high end but yeah, the other modes definitely have fairly broad and deep sweeps.
