I've been AxeFX since 2009. At the time I had several neato tube preamps and a 72 plexi (metal face), a Jose RI, and a Voodoo Modded Recto.
My AxeFX 3 into my 700w Crown SS amp into my Marshall/Boogie 4/12s will keep up with anything. And I love the tones.
For recording, I always go AxeFX...
counterintuitively...
Bass can resonate and/or reflect, and cause standing waves that effectively kill itself at points in a room. Nuking bass at walls or corners can increase the bass at listening positions.
Bass traps and whatnot are cool, and nerds love to spend money...but a...
I love Empire... but it's like comparing REM's Document to Out of Time.
Mindcrime was the pinnacle of QR vision, and Empire was the vessel to deliver QR to the masses.
Saw this in Greensboro. Best rock concert I ever saw. I was a HUUUUGE QueensRyche fan then.
Checked out after Promised Land. La Torre is cool but I'm out.
Win 10./ Cakewalk by Bandlab (because I'm still rocking a VS-700 console)/ Focusrite Scarlett i1810 + 8pre/ Yam MSP7/ Yam Sub
If I was starting over, I think I'd go Presonus Studio Live 32 with the Presonus DAW. The integration looks sick.
If I just wanted a simple interface and cool DAW...
So my bass player's Spector has pots that have shit the pig. Anyone have any idea where to find a resource on what I need to know to conduct a repair?
EMG dot com is ready to sell me pots...but it would be cool to understand how the thing works.
We did 3 or 4 of the 'Durty Harry's' 2 week stints back in the mid 90s. Those bunk beds in the band shack damn near over the stage. Lol.
I still have a few of the plastic cups from the bar. Fun memories.
I have 4 of these dirty motherfuckers...and I'm constantly wearing out switches and pots and trem parts.
Stew-mac wants $25 for a fucking switch? WTGDF
It's a crapshoot to find a decent knob.
Whatchall doing?
I met Billy when he showed up to a Alice Cooper Tribute gig I did in '98
He was humble and cool AF as I gushed over him about the Don't Say No LP.
Class act, but didn't Jeff Golub have a ton to do with the guitars on his stuff?
I can maintain my guitars. I can do setups and pickup swaps and neck adjustments.
I have 4 Charvels that I feel can be super great if a MASTER tweaked them.
Who knows somebody?
Didn't read the whole thread.
I feel you. There are times I hand my guitar to my bass player to play a chord progression...just to get the thing...and it will sound massive. It makes me nuts.
I have been listening to guys like OLA since he was a noob, and he'd record a part on a POD and...
I think it's interesting. It sorta forces you to separate your love for 'the music' versus hero-worship.
We may be 10 years away from AI fixes your plumbing, but we're 10 minutes away from AI-George_Lynch is better than real George Lynch.
Buckle up buttercup.
IMO, Warmoth makes great necks, but they cant do a Charvel. The carves are not close and the headstock is just wrong.
I have a bud that had MusiKraft make a Charvel like neck that was really spot on. That's where I'm going from now on for Charvel type necks.
