I experimented with the Fractal FX8 Drive Blocks and settled on the Micro Boost (Fractal's version of MXR Microamp). It did exactly what I wanted it to do. It kicked the amp's input just enough to give it more liquidity in the gain for solos. Cheers

if anyone with a Mission EP-1 SPL Spring loaded model, can you please send me some pics of the under pedal to see how the spring is loaded? I got an EP-1 (No spring) model really cheap and wanted to see if its easy enough to retrofit a Dunlop 95Q spring under the pedal. Thanks

What What mid frequency are you boosting ? And are you doing that in the pre or post ?

If it does then to my ears it's not enough of a reduction to make the amp less gainy. V1 on the Nitro is all 2nd stage gain clean channel, which according to the QuickRod manual from Splawn it has the same preamp tube layout: 1. Pre-amp tube - 12AX7b 2nd gain stage of the clean channel 2...

I put a 12AT7 in V1 in my Nitro (gain stage for Clean Channel) and I've been very happy with it. To my ears, it definitely gave it a cleaner and brighter overall tone.

i use the Guptech Sun Noise Gate. It works like a charm and its cheaper than the Zuul.. which I've also had and the Guptech pedal made me sell the Zuul due to getting the exact same results. I Also put it in the loop and has a signal sense with a pass thru so your guitar plugs into it and...

Thanks Hammered. Does the buxom boost give that nasaly or mid humo type tone from the boosting ? I really don't like that tone.

Aside from using an EQ as a boost, is there any sort of Clean Boost (similar to MXR Microamp) that also helps cut or tighten the low end? Not interested in OD1 or TS type pedals. Thanks

I'd love to see Fractal release a newer version of the FX8, with relays for channel switching.

Yeah, that was also my thought.. keeping the IR and loadbox separate when needed.

So question.. can I buy say a 16ohms hotplate and use it with my amp set at 8ohms or 4ohms ? Thanks
