5/8 vs 3/4 plywood for cabs

I'm not sure about Mesa ever switching from 3/4" plywood to 5/8", but he's comparing apples to oranges. The 123 lb weight is the shipping weight Mesa used to list for the 4x12 Standard Slant cab in its box. I believe they list actual product weight on their site now (104 lbs for the same cab)...

WTB: RJM Y-Not or Sound Sculpture AbCadabra

These are great. Can be used in reverse to switch between two input signals too. Not mine: https://www.sweetwater.com/used/listings/164770-used-rjm-y-not

NAD Mesa Mark III, but not sure which one.

Do it! Just make sure it's not the later version with Sheffield speakers. If it's got cream piping, it should have K85s if it's still stock.

NAD Mesa Mark III, but not sure which one.

I personally like Mark amps with T75s or K85s/K100s. My favorite two cabs with them were the old Peavey Butcher/VTM 4x12 (K85) and the Bogner Uberkab (V30/T75 mix). A regular Marshall 1960 would be cool too. Those STR415s will probably outlast any new tubes you install. A note about retubing...

    Boost-Talk

Check out an Xotic RC Booster or BB Preamp. They can both be dialed in cleaner than the 808, or can be dialed into overdrive territory, plus they have a 2-band +-15db EQ like the TC Integrated Preamp. RC sounds slightly more transparent than the BB and has a bit less clean boost on tap (20db vs...

    Frustration and no meaningful answers

You posted a mono track. Something in your DAW is making it mono. If us trying to help you fix this is playing dumb or gaslighting to you, then good luck.

Post a screenshot of your DAW render settings so we can see why you're exporting mono tracks. Getting them in stereo will make a huge difference.

This. DSLs are fine amps but there are certainly better options, and 95% of records that we listen to are recorded with roaring 4x12 cabs. Your clip sounds like a 1x12 combo.

    Frustration and no meaningful answers

Then you're rendering in mono because that's a mono track, not a stereo one. What are the render settings in your DAW? What's your exact signal chain? Guitar, amp, cab, speaker, microphone, mic preamp, interface. That's a good starting point. Good guitar tone and a good mix are two separate...

    Mesa tremoverb?

LDRs are used for switching channels and modes in Rectifiers. They used a batch that was prone to issues at one point, so they will likely need servicing. TREMOVERB LDR MEMO *NOTE: LDR's manufactured by "VACTEC" (has 3 lines of print on top) are more reliable than LDR's made by "SILONIX" (has...

NAD Mesa Mark III, but not sure which one.

Part of the tightness difference you're experiencing might have to do with the power section. Red stripes have the outer (Class A) sockets wired in triode instead of pentode (like the green stripe and Mark III). Mike B. could install a triode/pentode switch like the Mark IV. There are people on...

NAD Mesa Mark III, but not sure which one.

Should be a red stripe based on the serial number. The OT date code is May 1987, so that also suggests it's a red stripe.
