    TRADED.

Yes (and, to do the two main changes that are in the JEL circuit, it's just soldering components across resistors on the PCB). Look on this forum for posts by Burger or on YT for Headfirst Amplification or on Headfirst's website--schematics and vids.

Bogner XTC3534... What about the Red channel?

The C81 mod did not make a big difference to my ears. Lowered the gain maybe half of a single o'clock amount of turning the knob IIRC. For me the 35 sounded better than the 50. The 50 was much more versatile in the gain range, but the tone had a smooth round vibe to it that sounded woolly...

    Pedals based on SD-1?

I dig the Wampler Triumph. True Bypass, has a switch that goes between the Bad Monkey circuit and the SD-1, good EQ, and solid price for a nice pedal. I also like the MXR GT-OD/ZW (they're the same pedal, with a DIP switch on the board that changes one resistor) and the Custom Modified OD.

SD Custom is a great pickup

I dig the Custom with an A8 magnet. Sounds sort of between A5 and ceramic.

New 50 watt Bogner 3534 ?? Discussion is open.

I really wanted to like the 50. The gain amount range was much more usable IMO than the 35 (the 35 Red channel is way too much), and the boost was great IMO as a lead boost. But it didn't have the same bite or growl that I get from the 35. On the 50, low notes especially had a round or fat...

    "Repairing" a direct-mount pickup

I've had good luck with the soldering a nut onto the baseplate idea--file down any burrs on the baseplate, tin it and the nut, put a pickup bolt and spring through the hole into the nut, and when you hit it with the soldering iron, the tension on the spring pulls the new nut right into place...

Is the Marshall SC20H worth checking out?

I love the SC20. Great rock crunch, from old AC/DC through power metal. It's not bright for me, through Creamback 65s, and I run the Gain from 2-3 to 6, where it's tighter. It has a bit more gain than a 2204, which is handy, and plenty loud enough IME to keep up with a drummer. And it weighs...

    Bogner Marvel Mod Anyone ?

Thanks! I got it all here in the Bogner sub-forum or on the Bogner forums, from folks like Setneck, so I'm happy to pay it back. There's old posts from me and Setneck in the Bogner sub-forum here.

    Bogner Marvel Mod Anyone ?

The guy who was making them was named Marvel. :) It was a 3-position switch wired across R12, cathode bypass on the gain stage that's only used on the Red channel. The three settings were stock post-2004 XTC Red gain, stock pre-2004 XTC Red gain, and a Cameron mod on the Red gain. (In 2004...

Suggest a Microphone for electric guitar to compliment a 57

I've used an M88 alongside a 57 close-mic'ing guitars for ~20 years. I'm just a home studio amateur, but it has worked great for me; to me it has a bit of a scooped mids + high-end sizzle tone that complements the 57 midrange rasp well.

Mesa DC5 combo fx loop hum issues

Do you get the hum if you plug a guitar into the FX return? Plugging a guitar straight into the FX return can be a way to sort whether a problem is in the preamp section or in the power amp section. Jumpering it with a cable was a good idea; bummer that that didn't help.

FS: DOD YJM308 Yngwie Overdrive (DOD 250 clone) modded by Bodenhammer Bloody Murder guy

FS: DOD YJM308 Yngwie Preamp Overdrive modded by the Bodenhammer Bloody Murder guy, and by me! :) The 2000s-2010s DOD YJM pedal is a clone of their DOD 250 Overdrive with a couple component values different, like the input cap lowered to cut some low end. This one had the clipping diodes...

Sound difference in 2x12 that has the speakers staggered? Marshall 1966, etc...

Does anyone have experience comparing the sound of a 2x12 that has the speakers staggered diagonally, like the Marshall 1966 or the Mojotone British Style 2x12, to a regular 2x12, horizontal or vertical, that has the speakers centered in the cab? I'm wondering if having the speakers in the...

70s Marshall 50w - What Is Going On Here?

I'm definitely no expert, just an amateur tweaker, but it looks to me like there's an added cap in parallel across the cold clipper resistor, which is the resistor all the way to the right in your first pic, at the end of the circuit board. That's a very common mod for adding gain to the 2203/4...

Pickup - Looking at the Duncan RTM or Custom

You might ask on the Duncan forums. There's tons of hardcore pickup tweaker folks there, who I bet would have a good guess or might've even already tried it.

Pickup - Looking at the Duncan RTM or Custom

I'm familiar enough with Duncans going back 30 years that I've seen many examples of what they use. :) Their flat-head screw poles, all the ones I've seen are 3/4", and their hex poles are usually 1/2". I bet they told you 1/2" poles for the Full Shred because that's the length of the stock...
