when did that show become so X rated?

i couldn't believe what i was seeing on spike TV; a girl that likes to be vomited on stops a hot dog eating contest winner running to the bathroom to barf, pukes in her mouth, and gags on a piece of hot dog and chokes to death, a rock star that died with his head down a porta potty hole trying to get high from jenkim(sp)? which is the practice of huffing gas from feces to get high, and a movie start that sat on a jacuzzi vent naked screaming for his girlfriend to perform favors and had his internal organs pulled from his body???

all these scenarios were re-enacted with startling realism. the guy's colon being pulled from his body was bad enough, but the girl catching the guy's barf in her mouth was vile.

I caught one when I first discovered this show where the guy was fishing and decided to hook up to the power lines in his boat and shock the fish then it started to get screwy with all the sexual stuff,and really didn't want to kids to see that stuff

even though i produce TV i really don't watch it much. this made me sick. this is the current direction "entertainment" is heading, so the stuff i work on will be about combatting this filth as much as possible.

our tv at home is basically glued to nickelodeon for the kids...hannah montana, that show with the twins, sonny with a chance, super bubble gum 12 year old girl stuff but at least there are no bloody colons or barf eating chicks to worry about.

we also watch some of the ghost shows...man that would be so easy to produce...cruddy handheld cameras with green night vision whipping around...add some sound effects and gasp and yell "what was that!?" into the lens a few times...say the same shpiel about EVPS over and over again...done.
they finally started using zoom stereo handheld audio recorders after using these ultra bad sounding digital lecture recorders for years. congrats.

honestly i had no idea that the content of that network was as raunchy as it is.

spike used to be TNN, a network i produced shows for. i knew spike was "edgier" but good Lord, chicks that get turned on by being vomited on??? they even had a medical term for that and i don't dare google it!

i did watch satriani discuss hendrix on this month's verizon fios "on demand" free music channel category which was kinda cool.
if you have verizon fios hit the on demand star button on your remote, then search free/ music/ concert tv. there is actually a guitar category now. hope to see more cool things in the future on that one!
