101b footswitch problem

The LED on the foot switch for the effects loop died. When I replaced it, the new LED lights up and all of the buttons on the foot switch work as expected except for channels 1,2, & 3. I got the pin out from Bogner and traced all the wires and everything seems fine. If I Bypass the led and connect the lead straight to the lug on the switch everything is good, but no light for the effects loop. Add the led, no channel switching. I'm at an impass. Can anyone help?

The correct LED is key to the footswitche's operation. Make sure you have the right "leg" on the terminals...the two legs of the LED are different.
 
I got the replacement led from a Bogner dealer. I also tried flipping the legs. I'm sure I got it right the first time, as it lights up only with the legs one way. Unfortunately, the channels won't switch.
