I ended up getting one of these on impulse (and for no reason I can really justify :D ) and I have to say that after an hour long setup of the guitar, I'm pretty impressed! For $149, this is a ridiculously good guitar. It stays in tune, the neck is fast although a little deeper than I like, action low and frets well groomed. I haven't actually heard it through my rig yet, but if I don't like the pickups, I've got plenty of choices laying around.

Speedloader guitar

The only thing bad when I got it was the setup, which isn't too surprising. It looks like they just rough assembled the thing, threw on the strings and packed it up. The strings were about a foot off the fretboard and the thing couldn't be tuned with just the fine tuners. I lowered the bridge, adjusted the neck, reset the clever tuning controls on the Speedloader and then did some fine tuning and now the thing plays really well...

I mean it is no Suhr or anything, but hell, for something I can just leave out of the case collecting dust for a quick 5 minute jam before heading out the door, I dig it... Maybe I just have low standards or something although I have alot of nice guitars...

For anyone interested in checking out the Floyd Speedloader or needing a cheap beater that plays nice and stays in tune, I recommend it...

Wow what a bargain! If I wasn't moving I'd buy one today!

I ordered one 2 weeks ago from MF. Who the hell knows when I'll get it.

Was it hard to adjust the action on it? Are you tuned to E? I need to tune down to Eb.

I tuned to E, but I could have just as easily set the tuning for Eb. To adjust the action, all I had to do was lower the bridge and adjust the plate screws that hold the springs for the trem until the bridge was seated correctly. Of course this somewhat of an iterative process as you adjust the tuning of the guitar, bridge height and plate screws until everything is right. To tune, they have this clever system where you do the basic tuning with a hex set screw in each of the bridge saddles for each string. Once you get close you just use the fine tuners. Expect to spend about and hour getting things right as these babies are NOT setup at all from the factory...

thanks for the info. Now if only those fucknuts at MF would ship my stuff some time this century.

Hey Steve, how does the neck compare to the new c-neck strats? fatter?

Thanks.

Hey man - I really don't know as I rarely pick up real strats, but it seems to be like a medium C shape to me...

Yeah, I got the H-S-S. I'll let ya know. I don't mind changing electronics though since I have tons of pickups lying around...

Sounds good so far, but the true test, of course, is to break a string and put on a new one really fast and be ready to rock.....which is its claim to fame.

IMO everyone needs a beater sitting there next to the DAW, nothing about having low standards about that!

Sweet deal Steve.
