I ended up getting one of these on impulse (and for no reason I can really justify
) and I have to say that after an hour long setup of the guitar, I'm pretty impressed! For $149, this is a ridiculously good guitar. It stays in tune, the neck is fast although a little deeper than I like, action low and frets well groomed. I haven't actually heard it through my rig yet, but if I don't like the pickups, I've got plenty of choices laying around.
Speedloader guitar
The only thing bad when I got it was the setup, which isn't too surprising. It looks like they just rough assembled the thing, threw on the strings and packed it up. The strings were about a foot off the fretboard and the thing couldn't be tuned with just the fine tuners. I lowered the bridge, adjusted the neck, reset the clever tuning controls on the Speedloader and then did some fine tuning and now the thing plays really well...
I mean it is no Suhr or anything, but hell, for something I can just leave out of the case collecting dust for a quick 5 minute jam before heading out the door, I dig it... Maybe I just have low standards or something although I have alot of nice guitars...
For anyone interested in checking out the Floyd Speedloader or needing a cheap beater that plays nice and stays in tune, I recommend it...
