1x12 cab for recording only

I'm tired of lugging my Orange 2x12 upstairs where all my recording equipment is. So I've decided to pick up a portable 1x12 and load it with a V30.

I'm wondering how important the cab "design" is when close micing. I would guess that its not that important but I may be wrong. I know that I love the Bogner Cube, but if I can get away with a cheap alternative that would be great. Again, I don't care what it sounds like in the room.............just close mic'd.

When you close mic what you are hearing mostly is the speaker and encasement. Makes a huge difference on tape. You'll just have to watch the wattage rating.

For the money I think its hard to beat the new White Box Eng 1x12.

That's actually not a bad idea since I just found a brand new one for $329. Compared to an Avatar Contemporary for $304. I just might do that

That is what I am going with, mostly because I can get one for 300$ CDN new.

I would go with either a contemporary 112 from Avatar or a used Mesa recto 112. A used Bogner cube would be my higher dollar suggestion.

If you are close micing, maybe go for a WGS Vet30, or a Hellatone 60.
A brand new Cel V30 may not sound optimum in that application...

If you've got the time, keep your eye out for a Contemporary Cab used. I paid $150 for mine
