Just curious have you guys made any 2020 goals? I typically make a note of things I want to accomplish gear and playing wise at the end of every year. Kinda lame I know but it keeps me somewhat focused.

This coming year Im hoping to get a 2nd cab, get a custom Mayones, and take some lessons. I would also like to get a Mesa Mark IV if possible and build a plexi.

Do any of you guys have similar plans? If so what are they?

Not get injured to take me out of the guitar playing game, and don't take being able to play for granted.

I cut my finger with my hedge trimmer doing some landscaping work over six weeks ago and still can't play yet. It could be a lot worse - it was just a really deep cut (8 stitches) on my left index finger, but no tendons/bone were hit so I'm walking away thankful to have avoided something truly catastrophic to my guitar playing future. Now it's a blood blister there that I'm not going to manually drain - let my body heal as it ought to and I'll play when I'm ready.

This whole time, I peruse these forums and MF/SW and just think, what's the point in buying/trading gear if I can't even play it right now? Kind of brings me back to the whole point of it all: playing. That's the fun part of it.

I want to snag a Bach Stradivarius Cornet (although obviously not a guitar however)

I want to snag a second MIJ Jackson DK2M

I want to sell some stuff off.

I want one more k85 loaded peavey cab for CHEAP.

A second Gibson SG. A faded one to be specific for a beater.

I have to buy TWO gotoh floyds to swap in guitars I own, and a bunch of pots and PIO caps for a strat, Tele and an SG. a second set for the SG if I get a second SG.

That's about it.

(edit for typo)

Ive already got a jump on a few things. I start lessons the first week in January with Jon Bjork(been doing his guitar coaching for the past couple months) and I've put a deposit on a Mayones. Everything after this is just gravy... well except for another 2x12 since I only have one. I got the components for a plexi build last week but I need to grab a chassis. Im doing that to make use of some iron I have laying around. Getting a Mark IV will probably get written off. Im kinda to the point now that I have an amp sound and no matter what I have I dial it in the same way.

My life is busy , small kids and a demanding job.
Over the years I’ve had a lot of enjoyment messing with settings/ tubes, speakers, , chasing tones, getting different amps etc.
I’d like to limit the above, honestly it’s just and endless loop ,, set up a killer rig of 2 or 3 amps that can be switched between easily.
Focus more on writing, recording, playing and just enjoying it.

I think for 2020 I'm going to try something new... goal is to save money and learn to really use all the gear I purchased over the last few years and maybe even record a digital album of songs/riffs I've had in my head for awhile now... and maybe take some guitars that need some tlc to my local luthier, haven't done that in a long ass time

Less tweaking and tone searching...... More playing

Cool thread, I like the idea.

I guess my gear goals would be:
Wizard MCI or II
Diezel VH4
Splawn SS 50 Watt Lunchbox head and vertical slant 2x12 cab.
All set on guitars.
I would like to push these 3 items off until the later half of the year, as I picked up a ridiculous amount of gear this year and really need to chill for a minute.

As far as playing, I'd like to start taking lessons, as I never have and need to properly committl to actually bettering my playing to match the quality of my gear, but I know that'll never happen.

I should add that I am setting a goal by Veteran's day to volunteer to play horn for Vets and active duty military at ceremonies and such.

And I want to do more recording and learning how to use the recording stuff I have. I want to finish three original songs minus vocals.

Aw man brother, I hear that shit x 10!

My 2019 goal was to reduce my rig, which I did!

For 2020:
Put out my 3rd album
Gig more as my solo act
Get my 72 Yng Strat refretted with jumbos
Improve my chops!

start playing shows again. four kids under 5 is brutal and took me out of scene for a bit but i finally have a new band assembled which feels great. we should be show ready in a month or two.

gear wise i am pretty set and feel very grateful. might check out a 6505 118 sub. want a double electric gig bag. maybe replace a few cables.

My goal.....no major gear purchases or changes. I think I have everything I need at this point that will work for me.

My 2020 goals are to simply get back into it again. Practice every night, learn new things. Take care of my gear and start caring and obsessing over my tone again. And finally - start thinning the herd. I have guitars, amps and effects pedals that get zero usage - they need a new home and I could use the funds to buy more stuff.

My goals this next yr; gear related are:
1. Send my 84 Charvel in for a simple refinish.
2. Find a 2 Channel Triple Rec and have Mike B mod it to Rev C specs
3. Play more than 30 minutes per day...this should probably be #1 lol

New guitar PRS waring Ce , Schecter PT

New compact Amp. Bogner XTC 3534, SYNERGY 30, DeizelVHmini , Revv 7/40 KSR are the ones on my
Radar

Fractal FM3 for effects and portable tones

Spend less time on forums researching gear

My goal is to sell off a lot of gear. I mean I have a lot of stuff. Tons of small stuff, medium and big stuff. Pedals, pickups, etc etc etc.
