Ernie Ball EBMM BFR Ball Family Reserve 2021 JP15 with natural rosewood top. Only 89 released worldwide. Okoume Body, rosewood top, rosewood neck and fretboard. 24 Stainless steel frets professionally levelled for super low action (see below). COA and OHSC. Fantastic electronics package with lots of options including built in boost and piezo (see below). Locking tuners, compensated nut. 7lb, 7oz (~7.4lbs). $2500 shipped F&F, $2577 G&S. Solid rosewood neck is a joy to play and tonally amazing. I have a bunch of guitars with solid rosewood necks and they always sound and feel great with a focused tone that makes the notes jump off the fretboard. Neck is skinny and fast measuring .74” 1st fret, .80” 12th fret. Oil finish on the body lets the wood resonate naturally.
Ernie Ball factory fretwork is ….ok, but not fantastic. I’m a professional guitar tech and low action fretwork is my specialty. I levelled the frets so it is capable of extremely low, shred friendly action. People say “low action” in listings but it doesn’t mean anything without actual measurements; I’ve had people tell me “low action” when I could stick my pinky between frets and strings without hitting either! I set the action at the 14th fret 1mm (.04”) high E, 1.5mm (just under .06”) low E, but I’ll set it up however you want, let me know.
Electronics: Dimarzio Illuminator pickups. Piezo system with options for either blended or separate output, with adjustments on the back for piezo treble, bass, and mix. Push/push knob for adjustable gain boost. Push/push that splits the pickups in the middle position.
Cosmetic condition is very good. Any oil finish guitar that has been played, and this one has, will show some shiny areas where fingers rest, little micro marks, etc. So it is not at all beat up, and looks great, but it is not a case queen.
Unlike most sellers, including music stores, when I sell a guitar it will arrive clean, with good strings, set up (and not one of those awful music store ‘set ups’ that aren’t!) and ready to play with nothing more than tuning and possibly a truss rod tweak if the climate is a lot different where you are than where I am. I hate receiving guitars that play like crap, look like someone sweated all over them and threw them in a case, or have unidentifiable dried body fluids on them (no joke, some sellers do that) so I don’t sell that way!
