"China, India, South Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam have all registered a huge relative increase in their number of high-net-worth individuals — we can be confident this trend will continue as intra-Asian growth continues to surge.”

"Henley & Partners has received record levels of enquiries about residence and citizenship by investment programs over the past 12 months from nearly 200 different countries. The top two nationalities currently driving demand are Americans and Indians, with Brits, Filipinos, and South Africans remaining in the Top 10 as they have done for the last five years."

seems many who can afford it are planning their exit strategy!

enjoy the decline

And exit to where though? The UAE? I'd rather plan my funeral.

I've looked around a good bit and the prospects aren't all that great. Name one place that would be a better dump than the one I live in now. I look at some of the possibles but either the weather sucks, the political scene is questionable, the infrastructure is crap or crumbling, or the cost to gain residency is too high. I got pretty much all that here, lol.

I'm considering the Caribbean - perfect for sailing; and in Asia (plenty of sailboats available in the south pacific / se Asia).

I'll visit a few places and stay awhile once I retire and see for myself. Some have good visas that don't provide passports, but allow you to stay for a longer time, that aren't expensive. Foreign banking / investment is challenging as many refuse to open accounts for US citizens.

I'm still researching options, requirements and costs.
