Some really good points in there. Yes groove is most important, forget the flash playing.

I can't tell ya how many times the whole thing went south because jitters, nerves, and fear led someone or several peeps to start downin' the bevies a bit too fast and too many. 3 songs in, utter slop. 5 songs in, and there's already a fight breaking out cuz the bassist assumed the girl with the nice rack who's been hanging out at his stage monitor was "all his" but then her other half rolls in with a couple drinks in his hands and gives the bassist a funny "fuck you" look, and...

Ya. Save the bottle till after the gig.

DON'T touch another bands gear - let them pack out on their own, offer to help but don't jump in and start making hand love to the guitarist LP
 
don't be anal about your tone and spend more time tweaking and swearing than thinking about the song - if you don't believe me, ask Richie Blackmore
