Hey Rig-Talkers

I know this may belong in the Tech Corner subforum but I figured I'd get more traction here.

I have a 2x12 cab that is wired like my hand drawn pic below. But when I compare that to wiring diagrams that I am familiar with for 212s, mine seems to be 'off'. Notice in how the lower diagram for a parallel wired cab the positive AND negative wires to terminal are coming off the SAME speaker? Mine has pos and neg coming off each individual speaker.

Is this an issue?
Thanks in advance.

I verified with a multimeter that I have an 8 ohm output (resistance). But also, if I test the actual terminals of each speaker, each is also 8 ohm. They are 16 ohm speakers. Is it showing 8 ohm at the speaker leads because they are wired together in parallel?

Yours are in parallel. Should be 8 ohms total. Yes, measures 8 ohms everywhere because they are connected.
Thanks man for confirming.

Any issue in your opinion as to why each speaker is then wired to the jack vs how I see it in the diagram where one speaker is used. I can't think of a sonic reason but in a tone test I did several people suggested that I check the wiring of my cab.

Thanks,

Thanks Donnie.

Last call: So no sonic issues with the way my cab is wired?

your cab is wired imo in a better way than the drawing you posted. but they are both technically the same wiring/load.

No sonic issues. My 212 was wired the same way and sounded great!

Thanks guys. That is the information that pushes this over the top for me. I appreciate you chiming in. Agreed, that the diagram that I always refer to seems odd actually compared to how my cab is actually wired.

It is my Splawn cab. After opening it up the quality really becomes apparent
