Hey guys I'm looking at picking up a new 2x12 cabinet and am looking for recommendations. I'm looking at the commonly available stuff:
- Mesa Boogie Rectifier 2x12 I kind of dig the vertical 2x12 slant cab and I haven't used the V30's yet.
- Marshall 1936
- EVH 5150III 2x12
- Orange PPC212 I think they are a tad too expensive compared to the others

These would be new, there hasn't been a lot of used 2x12 cabs on the local market. The one music store has a used Marshall 1936 for $400, the Tolex has seen better days, but looks good outside of that.

Thanks in advance.

I like avatar cabs better than any of those, but I actually prefer my closed back bogner 1 12 cab to any 2 12, try gc used online ! 30 day return policy

Thanks, I'm in Canada and shipping and customs is a pain, which is why I'm looking for stuff I can get locally.

if you live near a guitar center ask them to look up and see if any stores have a closeout PRS stealth big mouth cab. I picked up the us version from my local gc for like 65% off, they're 700 new. While in the store for my preferences it sounded better than the orange 212 and mesa 212. Amazing cab

No GC's in Canada unfortunately, I'll have to look into how much the PRS Stealth Big Mouth cab goes for up here.

If L&M have one in stock, Hughes & Kettner have a V30 loaded Tubemeister 2x12 cab for $585 that might be worth checking out. I have no personal experience with it but thought I'd throw the idea out there.

Check out Steamco Music website from Canada. They make or sell Voltage Cabs and you can choose speakers as well. Priced pretty good too. Or just get a Mesa 2x12.

Don´t know where you from (oops just read Canada :D ), but I found this after giving up on the Bogner Cab (since Bogner seem to have some problems in their manufacture department):

http://www.zillacabs.com/

I just ordered a custom Studio Pro 2x12 loaded with a GH12-30 and a Greenback.

Haven´t got it yet, but its on its way. :) Very decent price for a custom built cab, imho, just hope it sounds as great as it looks.

I´ll post my expereince with it as soon as I have played it, but Paul att Zilla cab was very service minded and helped in any way he could.

Don´t know what the shipping would be to Canada, but for me (in Sweden) it was 50£

I love my Egnater Tour Master 2X12. Great removable casters, oversized, and not too heavy. What I don't like are the million screws I have to remove to swap speakers.

Otherwise, you can't really go wrong with any of the ones you mentioned. Put the right speakers for you in any of them and you will be fine.

One of the best sounding 212 IMHO - Bogner 212 Oversized

Little bit pricey...

I have one and it is my favorite cab.

I was lucky enough to find 2 Bogner 2x12's used in the last year (in Canada)
I'm a Bogner fanboy, but they're pretty much the best out there

If you're any close to Ontario, I'd suggest picking up an empty Wizard cab and throwing used (100$ a pop usually) V30s in there

I'm over an hour from HQ but I've never seen anyone locally selling anything Wizard. Do they sell direct?

OP's out west, I'd say check out Tapestry Music for Wizard in those parts.

Wizard do sell direct
You can pick your stuff up if you're lucky enough

I have a Mesa 2x12 currently. It's ok. A little boomy and dark. But I have the above-mentioned Bogner OS on the way. Should be here by week's end hopefully. I can report what I hear.

Did you play a Wizard 2x12? Just wondering which one (variable back or piggy back, 11" or 14" deep) and how it compared to the Bogner.

Yo Cats,

Not really "back" per se, but at least checking in on the RT scene. Still in CR surfing my brains out, and loving life. A permanent move is likely. Just an FYI update - it's all good.

But to the OP, PM me if you're in and around the BC area - I can hook you up with Tapestry as I know the cats there very well. The Bogner OS212 is the bomb - period.

Good to see ya Gents!!

Rock On!!

For what it's worth....I've had 2 different Marshall 2x12's and didn't like either one.
