2x12 ideas... or subs?

I have an idea that might be able to do what the ISP subs do... but highly doubt it. Im guessing that a 2x12 with some EVM 12Ls, or other appropriate speakers would be able to handle lower end frequencies pretty nicely with a 4x12 loaded with a greenback style of speaker. I have not been able to try this, but when I went home on leave I found a wizard 4x12 that I fell in love with for my sound, but need some more umphh to the equation. I also see that rivera makes a sub setup similar to the ISP subs... but would this idea of EVM 12L's in a 2x12 have a somewhat near desirable effect? I know they wont produce subwoofer frequencies, but thats not what Im looking to accomplish right now anyways.

Thanks, Chad

isp sub. no question.

what major city is your home located? i have 2 isp subs, and as a truck driver i can be almost anywhere in the states. let me know when you will be coming home, and i could arrange for a load your way, load one of my subs in the truck and come on out. you could try the sub, and i would love to try out some of your new amp (bet you would too).

the sound of the isp sub cannot be gotten anywhere else. the crossover cutting the low frequencies to the 12 inch speakers really keeps the guitar cab tight. seriously, it was such a great buy, i scored a second as a backup. if you are tuned down, or using a 7-8 string, it freaking rules.

This, without a crossover your 4x12 will get the same as your 2x12. Even if the 2x12 speakers can handle it, it doesn't mean the 4x12s can. You could use a separate power amp for the 2x12s and try and dial in more low end just on those, without a crossover. Just depends what you are after.

I wish I could be back in the states after deployment... however I will have a year left in Germany. That would be a very cool offer, because I dont think there are very many ISP dealers out there in Germany. I figured you would need a crossover to get those frequencies... just like my old pa setup, its worthless to have subs without one!

How different are the Rivera sub 1 units and the ISP vector subs? My Rivera is pretty cool but not sure how to use the loop in it. Thanks in advance (first post down)

Genz Benz G FLex for a 2x12 with good lows? I'm sure it can't match the ISP products but it's something to consider

Other than lack of a crossover, another issue with that plan is that the EV speakers (even just two of them) might bury the sound from Greenbacks unless you're able to control the volume of the EV speakers separately (ie, you run a separate power amp to the EV cab).

The EV's will put out a lot of bass .... but when I mix them with Celestion's I did not really like the sound. I much prefer one or the other.
