I'm running an old Marshall AX cab (1996) and while it is built like a tank and sounds great, it has this directness to it.

If I'm standing side to side, I loose that punch and directness that I like.

I was thinking about beamblockers but down the line, I want to add another cab to the mix.

I was looking to the Bogner stuff and Diezel as well.

What will give me a nice 3D sound?

Bogner, Orange, or if you can find a Mills Acoustics
or just run 2 cabs

I had an orange ppc 2x12 and it was nice but the V30's weren't broken in yet. Threw off my opinion of it.

Didn't Mills go out if business?

yes...Mills gone
I liked Orange PPC412 - used to have an mid 90's Uberschall that killed through that cab. All personal preference. I'm loading my Mills with the V30 & Creams, will let you know how 3D it sounds.

Concept behind the new Swart 2x12 where the speakers are angled out instead of straight on and the 3rd Power 3x12 cabs have inner baffles to disperse sound...but never played either to know if it's all smoke & mirrors.

Bogner 412 and Mesa RoadKing cabs for me. Mills are awesome too.

If you like to move around while playing, why not try the Beamblockers?

Thought about it and it's a cheaper investment than a new cab.

I want a new cab DTL as I need to replace my baffle board ASAP. There's wood rot going on as the previous owner(s) subjected it to waterboarding.

change the MDF back panel of your cab with a 15mm baltic birch one...
and then get rid of the ohm selector switch...wire the cab at 16ohms...
trust me...it won't cost more than 20$...you will not believe the difference...

Right on! Sounds like a NCD for you, soon.

You have your eyes on a different head? Might be something to consider when scoping out cabs.

I'm going to say 3rd Power 312s. They are amazing! On stage and at practice!

Have you tried anything with a half-back or open back?

Orange & Mesa Recto cabs are VIOLENTLY directional IMO... Marshalls are better, and...believe it or not...a B-52 is one of the faves in my world. Weird, huh?

hardwiring it makes no sonic difference
take your amp to a music store and ask to crank a few different cabs.

only way you're ever really gonna know what you want or like for that matter.

asking the opinion from a group of people that have the habitual history/need to tell someone to throw more money at an issue to fix it......almost as bad as listening to them :)

that being said, a slanted cab, placed on it's side offers good sound dispersion. though, you wont see many people do it just cause it's not the norm. you can even use a furniture dolly under it to decouple the bass like the regular cab wheels do.

Not a solution to the directionality.
But make tone changes for sure, i did it.

It's a killer sounding cab.

It's just for live situations, it'd be nice to hear without being directly in front if it.

I just got to play a Friedman Naked thru one of those and it is badass. Now, I can't say how much was the cab and how much was the amp(my 1st time playing both) - but I can say it sounded incredible.
